Already had two very fun games. I never thought Imperator was terrible, but it was lacking a certain something. It's like an entirely new game now, and for the first time I am finding myself getting fully immersed in the experience of playing it, because it no longer feels "clunky" and the different elements of gameplay feel more cohesive now. I hope this is only the beginning of where you'll take the game.

I will. No matter the flaws I believe the game is getting better piece by piece. I appreciate the efforts to better the game and honestly ive had fun since release. Thanks for not giving up! Wonderful era of history. :) Edit: unfort I wont be able to purchase any DLC or content packs for Imperator for a while due to cov and prioritizing my wallet and vaseline for ck3 and Eu4 dlc :)

I did, but gave up as the levy system makes playing as a British tribe unplayable. Having over 100 territories bit still only 2.5K army is ridiculous!

The patch is amazing, but you know what my favourite thing about it is? It's the fact that clicking on your nation's banner in the top left hand corner of the screen actually shows an overview of your nation now. The fact that clicking on it did absolutely nothing had been irritating me from day one of the game's release.

Have been playing 2.0. Its great. Definitely recommend to fans of Rome. Great blend of Warfare and Peace time development. Pops are also great!

I'm absolutely in love with this game. I was always on the fence about getting it because of the bad reviews, but decided to get because of the sale and this new update and after hours of playing it it's quickly becoming my favorite paradox game.

A couple of things though: Can't assign monarchs or consuls to lead the legions...and the legions can't be assigned to a given province which would help out alot with stabilising disloyal territories. Please add these features back, they're all that's missing now...

It was fine when it first came out, the reason it flopped, was they didn't put in a text chat, they can improve the game all they want, i already loved it since day one, if there is no text chat, im not even going to reinstall it.

I'd rather play this game without dlcs than any other Paradox game. That includes CK3. Imperator's inital problem was its lack of focus. Now it seems it it finally finding its own distinct voice. Can't wait to play several hours of this patch. I really hope this continues and more free content patches and some *content-filled* dlcs can enrich this game.

After all the critics I didn't buy it, but it was on sales on steam for the 2.0 yesterday and a lot of content creators were making a sponsored video. Coincidence? I don't think so. And I did give a chance. It's not even 7 hours of gameplay and to be honest I'm crap at paradox games. More than a 150 hours on HoI IV and I STILL don't manage to win even with germany. But it's fun and I like it and for this 7 first hours I had a lot of frustation even with playing the tutorial. A lot of mechanics aren't intuitive or even easy to understand but i'm begin to understand and thus enjoy it. I think a tutorial video on YT explaining the mechanics will help a lot. For exemple this video show export but how I DO export? How do I open trade routes? So many questions that i'm discovering I didn't even know I needed to ask. For exemples Horses. I can built a mine but for horses or others ressources, do I have to built a building? Do my pops exploit automatically those ressources? Anyway, I think I will learn to enjoy it fully like HoI IV but for now it's a learning experiences and for newcommers in the Grand Strategy Games it is not easy to learn. A more guiding tutorial would have been a welcome addition. I can only congratulate you on you dedication to this game.

You don't export resources by yourself - some other nation has to ask you to export these goods to them (just like you ask other nations for import to your capital). Usually, once you get access to a new resource through conquest or other means, next month there'll be a bunch of notifications from other nations in need of it. The resources are exploited authomatically. As far as I understand, there isn't a way to produce two horses on a settlement with horses. But if you make the settlement into a city, and grow it big, you can produce more than one. Every ten slave pops = one more copy of the resource. I don't know if other pops affect it in some way (maybe 20 other pops = 1 more?).

@@luxource yeah 15 slave from the video, but it was just an exemple from a multitude of other. there is way too much too learn. I manage to have a foothold in Illyria then i'm struck by endless rebellion in Italia even on my core province and I don't even know why. It just show negative score and as they are unhappy, I can't build anything. So a reboot my game. Again. Oh, well, it's a learning experience.

Can you act as a middleman trader in Imperator: Rome, so that you import goods from one power and then export the same goods to another power? I can see Syracuse filling this role between the Eastern and Western Mediterranean. Or can you build a large trading fleet and become a powerful merchant nation like the Phoenicians?

Ofcourse ! Import a good and then based on your unique modifiers export them for a higher price for example. Or export them to a ally in need. Have you found other ways?

Still a better trade system than EU4, I enjoy the unique niche imperator has created with a blend of aspects from other titles, an awesome period and emphasis on civ building.

I prefer eu4 than this. Here is just random rng like roll a dice and see. You dont have to think at all. In Eu you can aim to get monopoly and get bonus here just all a mess. Would be nice to have some actual fun stuff like caravan or trade ships etc

@@tamastoth21 I am not saying that Eu4 has a entirely bad system but fixed tradenodes and directions of flow are just extremely limiting if you play anywhere that isnt europe... I too believe that there is much yet to do to get imperator a good trade system but I dont really see the RNG that you are talking about...

Fyi theres a small visual glitch in the top right of screen for me at start up. Issue with levies is having multiple armies go into a battle and 3/4 armies just sit on the province while the 4th army fights. Ive had this happen a lot where I send 10k men of 3 armies, only 1 fights (gets stack wiped), then another 1 fights (gets destroyed), etc...

Will this be seen? Probably not. But its worth a shot. My current problem with Imperator is the difficulty. Or lack thereof. I understand I'm the minority; I powerplay. Without exploits, granted, but nevertheless. Other paradox games have the same issue but to a smaller extent. It takes longer for me to get bored in EU4 or Stellaris. I feel I become too powerful way too quickly in imperator. Many I talk to (paradox multiplayer PvP community) feel the same.

Forgotten? Isn't it one of Paradox's most popular games so far? The base game was released a little less than six months ago, so I wouldn't be surprised if the first DLC/expansion is coming soon.

Did you add a text chat yet? Despite whatever anyone says the reason there is no thriving community is because we can't organize one without an in game text chat, doesn't matter how good the game is, I have loved imperator and Ck3 since day one but i still don't play either of them, because i can't host games of them without a text chat, with stellaris, eu4 and ck2, i can host indefinitely because i will always get more people joining, when ck2 hit its lowpoint between jade dragon and holy fury, i still had 20 player games because i would host everynight at the same time, people would come, see the game and join 10% of the randoms would join the discord and come to the next game, community grows, no matter how small the playerbase is you can still host games, no text chat no growth, the people from individual communities will get bored and move on and without the first conversation via text chat almost no one joins the discord even if the name of the game is the link, over time the games go from 20 players to 3, cannot host indefinitely even with a giant playerbase, entropy. You are putting out complex strategy games without a built in form of communication, communication is a fundemental of strategy, i went from probably your biggest fan after ck2 and stellaris, hosting 20+ games almost every night, to the point where i actively tell people not to buy any of your products because you can't be bothered to put in the most essential and basic aspect of a multiplayer game in your game. I should have known it would be too good to be true when i went from Civ 4 or whatever wishing there was bigger and more complex strategy games, to Ck2, Eu4 and stellaris and being blown away with them, and now you can't even put a text chat in the game, i can't believe im even saying those words, you should fire whoever made that decision, even if it was Johan, who i love dearly. Seriously i almost physically attacked my computer when i booted up ck3 and there was no text chat, i kept saying "imperator was a fluke they just made a mistake of course there will be a text chat in ck3, no one would leave out something so basic" and then i turn it on, after hosting 20+ player ck2 games all week before, convincing everyone to buy ck3 even though most of them were only playing because it was free, and i have over 2k hours in ck2, my favorite game you've made besides vic2 of course, boot up the sequel, and there is no text chat.... did you add a text chat to imperator yet? Which is my favorite era for history gamed yet i haven't even touched it since i got it, even though i loved everything about it, because there is no text chat, i literally spend every second of the game thinking about how stupid it is that you wouldn't put a text chat in a strategy game. Seriously, what is wrong with you?

Economy game is too strong right now because of mercs. Just build up your economy, hire a big merc band and win the game, this renders useless the military rework. I started a game on noob island (Knossos) hired the cheapest merc band and with my troops tagging along managed to conquer the whole island in a few years, then I made all of them client states (ignoring the over relationship limit) and saved money for a few years more to hire a bigger merc band and then hit Sparta, conquering the whole territory in one war. Now I'm getting more money for several mercs and will hit Macedon next lol

slaves paying tax? interesting lol, I wish the system was more like Vic 2 and taxes could be applied to the different strata for varying positives and negatives modifiers with slaves not being able to be taxed. then a trade system more analogous to eu4 and slaves increase production or goods produced, idk how to make trade routes really work well besides what you guys got going but idk I'm not that much of a big fan of it.
