This should be used as a teaching aid , a large number of these incidents are due to pilot error , the number of pilots getting collapses soon after launching off a ramp about 13min into the clips clearly shows that the wind is off to the left and they are getting rotor soon after taking off. Ive been flying 23 years and the training has improved, the wings have also improved greatly yet the accident and injury rates have stayed pretty much the same, the improvements in safety have been completely eroded by pilots flying in stronger winds , stronger conditions , and generally flying when they should have kept it in the bag .

There have already been attempts to manufacture paragliders with splints, but the rules oblige, as a matter of safety, that the splints should allow bending every centimeter. It was funny, the splints hitting the air, making a hell of a noise.

Still seeing many accidents that should not be occurring. Many collapses / crashes occurring due to the flying of too high an aspect ratio canopy with too light a wing loading imho. For a bit less gain in performance choose flying well within the “safe/normal” flight envelope, not toward the edge! A man’s got to know his limitations ! Safe flying

In most cases putting the pilot´s hands up and letting the wing fly again would have sorted out many problems. Some problems were even caused by a prolonged time where pilots kept their brakehandle way too low - near the carabiners (for seconds!). Some simply lost their nerves although their altitude would have been safe to sort out their problem.

Hang glider pilots call paragliders "pair of panties" for good reason. I feel sorry for the pilots that haven't yet been in serious turbulence. They have no idea how violent the air can be.
@brunowill
@brunowill 3 ай бұрын
The differences between coastal lift flights and thermal inland flights are large. Large turbulences really scare pilots without experience in flights with strong thermal temperatures. Regarding flying with a hang glider or paraglider, I see it as different sports equipment, as well as those who sail on monohulls or catamatans, other cases such as kitesurfing and windsurfing, and so on.

Is wind shear the primary cause of these canopy collapses? I’m retired military static line and free fall parachutist. I’ve never had a round or ram-air canopy collapse. When I was younger (and much lighter in weight) the outer two cells of the 9 cell main would never fully inflate for me upon opening and I would have to pump the brakes to inflate. No big deal. But these canopies folding over and collapsing is crazy to me. The paragliding canopies do have much smaller / thinner cells and a lot more of an arc to the overall shape of the canopy, etc
@brunowill

The search for better performance and greater speed often leads to compromise on safety, I see it all as a big triangle, where everyone pulls to their own side, take for example a paramotor wing has speed, safety and little performance. Increasingly reducing the size of the mouths and reducing the weight of the wings generate reactions that are often violent.

Falsch!

I believe it will be a good initiative, I really enjoy varying sports and conditions, but in your case in Switzerland it must be complicated with the climate variations, you have to be very careful not to put yourself in these risky conditions. In general, I don't see many problems, what I believe to be the biggest problem is the excess of commands that we often make unintentionally, so on higher performance candles or in places with a lot of thermal activity, good training and being aware You may have to use a parachute.

Why not give us the raw sound instead of sanitising this of reality with needles music or whatever you call that noise?

Are these just poor quality wings or what?
@brunowill

They're not bad wings, they're bad equipment and location choices. We have to respect the weather conditions and not challenge them.

Let’s fly together and get tangled up and die. A good time was had by all! For crying out loud! How big is the sky!?! You can’t keep your chutes from tangling together?!? Maybe they need to find a safer sport!

In fact, there is a correct way to launch the parachute, but in times of stress it is normal to make mistakes. But I will tell you that it is very rare to experience a situation like this.

I didn’t need to watch this to know I’m never going to do that. I’ll probably jump out a plane and if I wasn’t to old for all the training I’d do a wing suit. Those wings look way too risky. 👍☮️🌞🪂
