These are my personal hints and tips that work for me,I am sharing them to give you an idea of what could possibly work for you. I am not saying they are the best way or the way you should do them, please take that into account, there are many fantastic pilots doing such movies on KZbin that may well work better than mine, what ever works for you is all that matters.

LOve these videos! I use the same method when kiting but we have no clear hills so will have to imagine I guess. I like the way you take the time to explain every nuance, great to watch!

Cheers, I've been using As-Cs to kite the wing. I will try the As-Brakes next time to see which is better. It's good to have options.

Thanks Marc. I often wondered how people steer the wing when they do this. I'll get some practice in over the weekend.

I just found your channel Marc and LOVE your style and clarity. I've watched all of Peter Holdy's videos, along with Andre Bandarra. I've subscribed to your channel and can't get enough!! A couple of other folks have asked the question I had, regarding doing this same technique in much stronger wind using the rear risers. I've ground handled and killed the wing as you've shown in your other videos with the rears, and could see using them for this same technique when the brakes aren't enough to control. I guess that might be pushing my neophyte limits anyway (especially using a larger beginner wing - older UP Makalu3). Thanks again for the great stuff. PS: Looking forward to watching some of your flight videos, like entry level XC tips, etc.

Always look forward to your videos. Very informative...beautiful cumulus day, also! With a much windier day, would you have the full back risers in your hand instead of just the brake lines and using the same steering method? Looking forward to the thermalling episode.
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation 3 жыл бұрын
Yes if a bit windy you could take the rears but I normally do this method in light winds to have the wind pull me up the hill side.

Most are for model aircraft- jets - helicopters fixed wing model cars, some for triathlon and mountain biking, and some for Paragliding.

Great stuff, Marc. Well explained, thanks! It looks like the wind is pretty light where you are. How does this change in stronger wind?
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation 3 жыл бұрын
I use it in light winds to walk back up after landing low or when arriving to walk part way up then get the glider/wind to help me get up top with less effort, In high winds I have a very different method using the rear risers or if the wind is in-between ie not light but not windy I would kite up using the brake lines, hard to explain it would need to be a movie to show you, if people want this I am happy to show you all. Makes sense, thank you.. what would you do if a brake line broke while you were flying?? Can you land on the c risers? I've asked Greg Hamilton... but i guess he's to famous to answer 😂
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation 9 ай бұрын
Yes buddy go to the rear risers but be gentle, rather than a pull it’s more of a twist backwards to steer. 👍🪂 lets hope a brake line never breaks though.

Great series of videos. As an absolute beginner is there any reason not to launch part way up a hill? Let's say half way. Due to not having a head for heights I need to get used to the elevation and don't particularly want to start at a thousand feet.
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation 3 жыл бұрын
Your instructor will start you very low down to start with and as you progress and he or she is happy you will go from a higher point if that makes sense.

Thanks a lot Marc! I find your tutorials useful and the explanation always well made! I see that you grab all As for kiting. Do you find any big difference when/if using only the inner As?
@leavesleyaviation
@leavesleyaviation 3 жыл бұрын
Some designs seem to work better just taking the inner A’s yes for sure, if your glider wing tips like to rise before the middle part of the wing then for sure use the inner A’s. Just try both and feel out what your wing foes best, good luck 🤞🙏🪂
