Paragliding video about an amazing day of flying I had in Italy. I launched in Dorf Tirol off the Hochmuth, flew a small XC at cloudbase then toplanded next to a waterfall! We rigged and walked a 700m long highline then camped vol biv in the mountains! The next morning I flew an amazing xc triangle in the area and landed back at home! So awesome. In this video I share my experience but also give lots of tips and tricks for paragliding.

I'm a songwriter and one of my songs contains the line, the last man to live is the last man alive. Your videos describe this phenomenon. I will paraglide before I die if the gods smile on me.

Watching this video with your reactions really makes me appreciate the fact that I live 2 hours away from takeoffs in the Alps. It really is a dream to fly here. The fact that you can bomb out anywhere and still get home the same day because there are huts and roads with friendly people who will take you to bigger cities with public transport ... Makes it's so easy to push hard and really enjoy those low saves and scratching up the mountains again. I always end up flying in the Alps exclusively in August because flatlands get overheated and it gets way too stable. I've had some nice 100km flights and triangles. And as you said... You gotta get used to proximity flying. It takes some time to find the right balance between safety and efficiency.

I really want to fly the alps sometime. Flying in California to go far you have to fly some really deep lines, where it can be at least a 5 hour hike out, or even an unintended camping trip. So being a 70 ish hour pilot I’m still doing 10 km out and back flights, triangles usually just shy of 19 km, so i can stay within an easy hike to a road. But I’m planning on going bigger as i become more comfortable and confident that i can get those climbs when i absolutely need them.

Stunning landscape, enjoyed going along for the ride, and appreciate your honesty about being gripped at times, even though you're up at base with no rational reason to be scared. If you don't mind some internet psychoanalysis, here goes! People who like you will do so regardless of the radness of your exploits so don't worry so much about saying it out loud when telling your stories. It's ok to be scared when doing cool stuff as long as you're doing it for reasons that are worth it, to you. It seems that the frequency and amplitude of your positive self-talk in the narration is increasing as of lately, makes me a little concerned you're getting too close to the "Super Dell" side of the self promotion bell curve. As far as the clinic and trip sales is concerned, I bet there's a lot of people out there like me who would be happy to sign up with someone running a solid program regardless of their level of radness, and any super-dell vibes might cause me to think twice about it, if anything. So if this hits home at all, maybe try putting out a video and taking everyone along for a cool story with zero mentions in the narratio of how good you are, let the content speak for itself, and see how it's received. I would dig it! But if this isn't appreciated, and I"m off base or whatever, no prob I'll just shut my mouth, but wishing you the best!

Freaking beautiful man!! Love your videos, love your story telling style!! Just love it all and I freaking love paragliding too!!! Recently moved up to the high-B class with my second paraglider the maestro 2 light, just had a little 10km out in back flight last weekend in the Sierra Nevada’s on a particularly challenging day, very opposite conditions that usual, the climbing was mostly quite smooth (which is usually not the case) and wasn’t a very tall day, but the upper wind layer made the glides super turbulent, the only collapse I took was during a glide, so weird, but it was a very rewarding little flight, only 5.5 hours on this glider and the farthest out and back I’ve ever had, I’ve had quite a few almost this far, and some triangles that were bigger on my old glider, but it was glorious. And I definitely want to take one of your XC clinics, I’ve been watching your since before I started paragliding and I think it would be great to learn from you. I’ve learned from a lot of amazing pilots, in my original P2 course, to SIV, to just having a lot of absolute legends as mentors. Still a very “young” pilot at a little over 70 hours, but that’s no ridge soaring, that’s almost all mid day thermal flying, so even though some people might think going up to a high-B might be a little irresponsible, I feel like i have the skills to do it, I did have a 70% collapse on it on my 3rd flight and it recovered beautifully, I managed the energy and had absolutely no cascade of events, so I’m doing okay (oh, but the reason I had the collapse was absolutely my fault because I flew into the Lee side of a huge mountain in 12 mph winds, thought i was far enough away but quickly learned that i was not). Anyway, sorry for long posts, I just love paragliding too, it’s incredible, there’s nothing like it, it’s scary sometimes, but it’s so rewarding and i can’t imagine life without it.

70 hours is not terrible for a step up IMO, as long as you feel comfortable on your new glider.

[17:10] You say this would have been the only collapse you got on your awesome trip. Though, to me, it rather looks like you'd be very close to the spin point as the tip starts to bend backwards.
@patrickswitzer628
@patrickswitzer628 10 ай бұрын
To me, looks like a plain old tip tuck, there's a tiny bit of the brake fan engaged which you would expect as active flying response due to the loss of pressure in the tip. Then it pops out with a clean TE as he goes hands up on the right, not close to stall
