On August 10, 2011, Lionel Daudet left for the Dodtour, an “exact” tour of France without motorized means, following the land border and the coast as closely as possible. More than 5000 km, more than 1000 peaks...
On November 15, 2012, he returned to his starting point, the summit of Mont Blanc.
A 15-month journey (465 days) to take on a physical challenge, explore and tell the story of what makes France.
Because adventure can also be experienced on your doorstep
Because mountaineering likes to find elegant lines, in a real... or imaginary wall.
Because contemporary mountaineering opens up to new, creative, original horizons, a summit "le fil de la France" was born...
Link between different countries.
Because if the border sometimes separates... it connects above all.

DOD according to Charlie Buffet | journalist-director
Today he is one of the most creative French mountaineers. He is a sort of "big brother" for the generation of young mountaineers who explodes the standards of difficulty while respecting a very purist and ecological ethic. His life as a mountaineer began around twenty years ago with a world tour of large wild walls. It helps to reinvent adventure mountaineering in the Alps and in distant mountains.
In 2002, during an attempt at a solitary winter trilogy (the three large North faces, Eiger, Matterhorn and Jorasses, via extreme routes), he froze his feet. Amputated by eight toes, he adapted and continued his journey. He developed a passion for the mountains of the Deep South, which he explored intensively over the last five years, notably by setting up an expedition to Antarctica with Isabelle Autissier. At the same time, he continued to invent beautiful trips to the Alps:
- a remarkable crossing of the Ecrins. In spring 2004 Lionel Daudet and Philippe Pellet completed a Homeric loop of more than 200km on the ridges of the Ecrins massif, for more than 2 months. (source: Montagnes-magazine 344H)
- a tour of the Hautes-Alpes department. In 2007 Lionel Daudet and various companions carried out a 700km tour as close as possible to the administrative limits of the Hautes-Alpes department, the highest French department. From April 15 to July 15, climbers performed tightrope walks between Cerces, Queyras, Dévoluy, Ecrins, covering forgotten routes and reaching 292 peaks.
And today, this very ambitious project: the exact tour of France.
If we had to summarize his journey, we could say: twenty years around the planet to discover that adventure is just around the corner.
