I love this channel. It fits my attitude perfectly. I don't panic very easy and I don't think I will ever be good at this. We have a forward launch a reverse launch and everybody admits we have those.There's really no name for the kind of launch I will be doing. I'm going to set up in a place where there's room to drag on the ground for about 50 m in every direction. Just keep launching even if it's dragging me, on the ground.

@@PeterHoldy I'm with you on the shouting thing. If you yell all the time it doesn't mean anything. If you speak calmly most of the time and you yell when the person is getting in trouble they will pick up on the tone of your voice and maybe see the trouble in time.

Now that I've done a few flights myself, and started ground handling to do reverse launches, I can appreciate how masterful you are when you are ground handling, is like watching a kung fu master defeating anyone coming at them. Thanks for you amazing ground handling videos Peter! A am at the beginning of paragliding. Though I was a ATPL pilot till the doc grounded me due to hearing issues and tinnitus. I think the biggest hurdle to overcome for me personally is not to follow natural instincts while having the breaks in my hand. As you pointed out, it only makes things worse! I think I might buy me a cheap EN-B wing and harness without check for ground handling training in many conditions before I start my A - License training. Fly save... Sue

That is really sad that you can not fly Big Airliners ! I can not imagine how difficult it is for you ! How many years did you fly as ATPL pilot and what airliner if i can ask ? Definitely paragliding is best for your mind. It will keep you in the clouds ! Best place you can be !

@@PeterHoldy I was flying business jets. Sadly it wasn't long after I got my ATPL license ( better said: ATPL theory & CPL license) that I had this accident, laid 2 weeks in coma and had an hearing loss. I really miss the feeling of letting go of all the earthy stuff when free flying with a Cessna 172. It was like meditation. I think even if I hear not that well today, and won't be able to keep up with the sometimes heavy workload of a commercial cockpit, paragliding will give me this feeling of being one with nature. Maybe even more then a Cessna ever could have!

That's exactly the kind of instruction I'd need and not on such a steep slope as two weeks ago when I attended a taster day. One time in the air, out of 7 attempts... Should really have had your advice and instructions in advance :-) Mild concussion could have been avoided ;-) :-)

Hi Peter, everything you are saying is right, but I am quite shocked, that you are letting those people with almost no obvious experience to handle their wings in such a strong conditions w/o basic equipment - gloves. As well, for students I recommend to get really good boots with ankle support. This might not sound useful, but think twice - it's always cheaper to spend maybe 150EUR for good boots and 50 EUR for proper gloves than get in hospital with burnt fingers or broken ankle. Fly safe :)

Joel Fuchs, I fully understand that there is a near paralized or death issue here... this clip: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXmtgmx7lKyAqaM but why don't you just share your knowledge/skills if you got one? instead of """I can't 'beliEve' this guy is teaching"""??? I/we share our PGGHe skills free-of-charge as I/we are sick/tired watching these people dying due to lack of "PGGH active piloting skills". We all commit mistakes. Now, if this enthusiastic trainee instructor commited a very deadly instruction to his/her student, then this is the right time for you to share your PGGHe skills if you got one. If you don't have a skills, I'll teach you on how to gain one... free-of-charge. 4f1hmr

UK is not that bad, you can fly any time + winters as well. Best is after spring or after summer as conditions are more stable and nice, find your local school give them call and you will find, learning to fly is much easier. If is good weather and if you are good in 2 weeks time you will be qualifide Club pilot.

peter, whats the differens between sitting and lying in harness, seems to me like lying might be mush more comfort and aerodynamic, i have seen some video's with people flying with all types of harness.
@PeterHoldy
@PeterHoldy 6 жыл бұрын
Classic open harness are good for beg. pilots as you have legs ready for landing, but they usualy create more drag that lying harness. I preffer lying harness as they are more confortable for long flying but tricky to go in and out! And you do not feel cold wind in side;) Lying harness are more aerodynamic so better performance! Do not recommend lying harness for beg. pilots. Hope i answer your question ;)
