So when this was first announced I had never played a MOBA and was turned off of it when I found out it was indeed a MOBA. Then this little game called Smite comes along that is free to play on PS4. I thought "I am a gamer, I should at least play a MOBA once to really see if I like it or not"...I bought the founder's pack. I fell completely in love with the strategy and teamwork. It was a good change from my average call of duty grind. Now came along Paragon. I remember how cool it looked and since I was now in love with the 3rd person MOBA, I figured why not. This is my favorite game of 2016 so far (sorry Division). You said it can feel "grindy", but honestly if you are coordinating with your team and moving in and out of lanes and flanking/ganking then it stays exciting in my experience. I have to say that I am not sure the traditional MOBA player will like this. This is just an opinion though. I think Paragon is a good beginner MOBA. It looks gorgeous (in freaking closed beta!!!!) so I can image how much better the full game will look. I play on PS4 and it is harder to communicate due to no keyboard option to talk to your team, but the team commands can work if you listen and respond. Well those are my thoughts on it. This game is great, the card system, for me, was confusing at first but it got better, i think i was used to the harvester system because i played dawngate a lot when it was still around. The strong point of this game is probably its adaptability in its own ''meta'' kind of like HoTS where your team is most likely random characters where you try to formulate a team strategy. The learning curve is there but i belive its good to actually look at the tutorials for once even for veterans. also, map indicators are MAJOR HERE(like minions number under tower health and harvester capacity)

Thanks for this. I've going back and forth about purchasing a FP for Paragon. I've just gotten to the point where I want something different than shooters, shooters, shooters and the occasional adventure game. I've been thinking about trying out MOBAs. I've been trying Smite on PS4 and its been cool, if the players stick around. They often leave in the first few minutes. Anyway, I hope the MOBA community grows in the console community and I just might check out Paragon. Learning curves are fun to master.

Most of the PS4 players ARE bad. Ive been playing Co-Op, Player team versus AI team, to get a handle on it and to try and unlock stuff before diving into PVP. Guess what? I had teammates going 0/1-10 against BOTS. These players couldnt even maintain a even K/D Versus BOTS. Several of them had no Prime Cards and some had around 4-5 Minion kills when we where 30 minutes into the game. Whats worse is that others would Leave/DC and the remaining guys wont vote for Surrender so Im stuck with players worse than BOTS banging my head against a wall. Game looks great and mechanically isnt bad but most of the console players suck completely.

I bought the founders pack de la big assed, and so far, am happy with everything... considering it's still beta. Smite doesn't rubber band at all on my system and Paragon will on occasion... Worth the bang, in my book. Like to see them continue development with the paycheck I exchanged with them :)

Hello, I've been a MOBA PC player by recent years but only got into it because of college friends, traditionally I was a Halo/COD/Gears of War player and so I was overwhelmingly interested in seeing how this game would turn out. I thought IT'D BE YEARSS before I could play this, but no?!? A full-on beta comes out just for me to enjoy. Now, I've played several years of League of Legends, and I got this game and really knew the play-style in regards to watching the map, minion wave and tower control, and team coordination. I picked up on it well and despite losing with Gadget, a mage, I was able to dominate with the traditional AD Carry player TwinBlast where I just kited the AI, only damaging when I could and Id get the kill, or I'd KS (kill secure). That's always fun. But overall, this game is INSANELY slow. You mentioned this was a PS4 crossover as well, and I'm wondering if this is some sort of baby-stepping towards a real game? (and by "wondering" I mean I am on my knees begging for it to be more fast-paced than this) If I'd never been in contact with the MOBA community like I did years ago, this sort of pace would be completely acceptable to me and I'd be rationally inclined to play whenever I could. But I'm no gradeschool MOBA player, I'm at least freshman in college, and considering I'd just gone from Warframe to THIS jaw-dropping gorgeous little tortoise it was like being an coke to being arrested: still feeling like a new man, but in handcuffs instead. As much as I hope for this game to be good, and I will continue to play more, I can't help wishing I had fucking swifty boots or ANY movement speed item for that matter. I fuckin dying out there. Maybe I need to give it some time. Hell, that's what they hoped for all the PS4 players to do considering it's a fucking console MOBA. I don't know much about MOBAs but getting into this was far easier than with Dota2 where I played for roughly 15 minutes and just didn't feel a connection I guess you could say. personally I had NEVER played a MOBA before Paragon, or even knew much about them, so the first few games were a wreck, there is no real tutorial, just a quick introduction video, so you are just kinda thrown into the match. But after you understand the basic concepts of the cards, your abilities, the purpose of all the things you can find around the map, and game mechanics in general, it's pretty straight forward, and it starts getting really fun. You start unlocking better cards! Which are really what makes all the difference in the game, because they are the only thing that can give you the edge over opponent other than your skills. Great game, I am really enjoying it.

you should have started by playing LoL, then Paragon. it has tutorials and stuff, and after you get the basis you jump on other mobas. i had a hard time learning the cards and how they work, but it was only a wreck the first match, then i went full bruiser on Steel and demolished some noobs

+Rickn'Roll yeah I figured LoL was similar, looked a lot like it from some gameplay I've seen, but I liked how it was easy to catch on, the card system is pretty streamlined, I would almost dare to compare it to the witcher 3's kind of card play in the way you pick, choose, and match cards, or looking ahead of time and barely having the upper hand over your opponent. Or being straightforward or very strategic depending on your experience and skill. Very fun game. The video confused me though, will the game remain ftp with in-game purchases or will you actually be forced to buy it after its official release?

I'm the same way as you. I'd never played a MOBA and was just curious what the craze was all about. Bought in when the Founder's Pack was just $10 (sale week) and have had soon much fun. Easily became addiction and loved the balance of intellect and execution the game requires. Not to mention patience and long-view strategy with your team. Really makes the genre unique. Heroes are fun with lots of variety to choose from and Epic is doing a good job updating the game and introducing new ones every few weeks. Totally agree that PC gamers seem to understand the team strategy much better than the rest. So frustrating when you get some hot-heads just running around looking for kills instead of helping push lanes, support, or gank (look at me using these fancy terms after just a month or so!) Anyway, great vid. Earned a like and sub from me.

I bought the basic $20 founder's pack, and I love this game so much. I played Dota 2 for a while, but could never get good at buying items and will the characters. I love the 3rd person aspect of Paragon, and how easy the card system is (it was daunting at first, but the more you play/learn, it gets easier). I'll definitely be putting in hundreds of hours into this game.

I really enjoy this game, I didn't hear you mention that it's cross-platform and is available for all three avenues of gaming (Xbox One, PS4, and computer), which makes it very easy to get my friends to try it out and (if they like it) I find that they play it really frequently if they end up liking it, so games are relatively easy to jump into. I also think the card system is great and, at least compared to item systems in games like League of Legends, makes it feel like it really is my style of gameplay that makes me clique with certain characters, which is a big reason why I enjoy MOBAs. I'd highly recommend people check it out if interested. It's very fun playing in the same room as other people playing on computers.

Paragon is now one of my favorite games, I play it more than black ops 3 which is one of the only games I would enjoy playing. I have 11 hours played in two days which is a ton for me. Hey, I'm playing it on PS4 and it is impressive, I played LoL, DOTA, and Heroes of the Storm and I was just thinking it would be a 3rd person version and although there are a lot of similar concepts Paragon stands out in a few areas. Like the fact that you have to time your attacks and gage your distance add a skill complexity that has to be mastered and also as you said the decks. The decks really give you some depth, you can tailor your decks to give your character the upgrades that set it apart. I've been playing Gideon the caster and having a lot of fun.

Grim.Exe is awesome. As someone who enjoys and mains adc in League, Grim's control-based abilities really make him feel like he has even more ways he can carry a game than just basic attacking. I just started today, but I really enjoy the game's mechanics even though if the gameplay can feel a bit grindy. Definitely excited to play and explore more.

I'm a founder. I only bought the $20 founder pack, since $20 is pretty cheap and I wanted to get into it. As someone who has spent a lot of time in mobas, I made a judgement call that this would be pretty good. I'm not disappointed to say the least. It's the only moba with an out-of-game strategy element via the deck building. It won't be for everyone, but conventionally the appeal of moba games is at least for the "strategy-conscious" player; falling in the middle ground between requiring reflexes and accuracy vs strategy and coordination. Add this to the generally very polished nature of the game and assuming ongoing balance issues don't arise as they did in Smite, it could be a very interesting and uniquely playing moba with a lot of action to round out the strategic structure the game shares with most mobas. I would agree on the feeling that things are a little sluggish early on, I would like to see the basic movement speed increased about 10% so there is more trading blows early on. But as people get more experienced the meta will get faster. Watch this space and if you have $20 you don't have a purpose for, I would say it's worth it.

I was pleasantly surprised with this game. I mostly play Doom and BF4 on my PS4 and after playing Doom for 4 hours the other night, I looked at my library and found Paragon that I downloaded a few days ago for free.I said to myself, what the heck, if I don't like it I can always delete it since it was free and fired it up.Man, I played like 2 hours straight playing 1 single game. It went back and forth and wow! I am hooked!!!Loved it. The learning curve for non-MOBA players seems to be kinda a little steep for the likings but the satisfaction that you get after you get to know the ins and outs is worth it, IMHO.

my friend and I downloaded and got the $20 pack and we played it 7hrs straight together. I personally am never into Moba type games. The only other one I'd consider is Smite but I like this one more. For early access it does feel very polished and I'm having fun with it. It does help it has that Epic Games flair. I'm excited to see where this goes. And for anyone wondering, you DO get to keep your progress all through the early access into the full game.

I've never played a moba before and I downloaded the open beta yesterday and within two matches I was having so much fun. Even though I was losing (I was playing on console) just learned how the different Heros worked and the mechanics behind their abilities was a game in itself. It had a really good time and will be buying it when it's released.

However, I would like to make the suggestion that you take the video down since the content is no longer current! I actually used this video 6 months ago to decide whether or not I would download it at the time. That is why I think it is important that the overall message conveyed portraits the game for what it is *now*. Would you please make a new video for Paragon since the new Monolith update was released? I would love to see what you think about it, and it would help inform the community about what's going on exactly. The changes were HUGE, and very little carried over from the previous map. Why I love this game (PS4), is the community, like you said, everyone's still figuring out how everything works, but the community is quite nice and fair to each-other. My best friend always tries to join him on League of Legends, but I just don't like their community. It's so toxic and rude. I'm seeing myself as an average casual gamer, so I admit I do a lot of mistakes in games and being a noob. In LoL you get spammed, reported, shoutet and cursed at for every single thing you do. Meanwhile, while playing Paragon, everyone's pretty much chill and even good humoured. I remember I was playing with a bunch of random people and we we're all joking about all the noob mistakes we were doing and how we were still trying to figure things out. In my opinion the community plays a big role for a game to succeed. That's why I rarely play multiplayer fps shooters because I just can't enjoy playing games while everyone is criticising the shit out of you.

PS4 Founder here. I really enjoy the game. It is fun. And that is what is important to me. I feel that for 20 bucks I have gotten my a good deal on an enjoyable game. I personally like Dekker, Muriel, and Grux. Grux is a freight train that if you let him get going he will eat you alive. Muriel can go many different ways. And Dekker is a surprise to me. She is a CC Hero but if you build her for damage she smashes because she can hold heroes and CC them and take them down at the same time.

I have played Paragon for a little over three weeks now, on PlayStation 4. I can definitely agree with you when you say console players are still figuring this MOBA thing out. I love strategy games, so this was right up my lane. (pun intended) I like the different elements they have thrown into the game so it isn't just, go here, kill him, destroy these, you win. There are red, black, and white buffs that can either boost your overall damage, damage to structures, and so on. So it makes you want to travel into the jungle, away from the lanes, and fight the AI for some pretty powerful buffs and card power. Overall, i think that after the console players get the hang of how it actually works, it could be a real strategic competitive game.

I'm playing it as a Founder and it's pretty awesome to be honest. I love MOBA's because of the type of gameplay between players, it's kinda like a sport. What's cool about Paragon is that it's basically the MOBA game type, but they've added the 3rd person view to make it seem like more of the super fun console games. I would say if League and Destiny had a baby, that's what this game would be haha Overall, great game. I love the card system too, it adds a good element of personalizing how the player wants to play the hero

I just started playing this game today on ps4, I have never played a MOBA before but Im quickly catching on and I'm becoming addicted even though I've only played one long match with a friend vs AI. Currently free on psn with PS plus which is great. So far I love it, it's at a different pace than a game like Battlefield 4 for example but still intense and utilizes team based coordination.

I played in the final two online tests before they made the game available through early purchase. I then purchased the $99 founders pack. I've been a long time League player (started at initial release) but I've never been partial to the toxic nature of the player base. I'm also 33 years old so perhaps I'm not the typical demographic for League, but I digress. The way Epic handles toxicity in this game is to be applauded. Firstly, there is no way to communicate with the enemy team during the game. That was a brilliant move on Epic's part. why am I going so in depth on how they handle rude players and not the game itself? I'll tell you why. the game itself needs no facilitation from me. it speaks for itself. Paragon is providing me the most fun experience I've ever been able to enjoy while online in a video game. the characters? Art? Gameplay? Solid. Well thought out and properly executed, Paragon is only going to get bigger, and I think they've created a monster behemoth of a game.

I've had this game on my ps4 for about 4 days now and I'm loving it. What I really like about this game is the deck building because it really allows you to play any character any way you want to. Weather your going back for a tank build a fighter or even an assassin.

Loving it so far dropped $100 onto it, favorite character so far are the meld style grid and the new goblin robot grim.exe looking forwards to it being release, good thing with founders packs if you wasn't aware especially the $100 one it enables you to auto unlock all character challenge modes which usually cost 10,000 credits each so saves you a hell of a lot of time and in game credits :) plus you get a spare founders for a friend which is awesome

I think they need to add in a CXP bonus to leveling up, or at least every 5/10 levels. Helps the early and mid game characters be a little more relevant and overall speeds up the game by getting to 60cxp quicker. Add in a whole lot more cards with GOOD actives so that late game carries are presented with something a little more interesting than dmg/crit/AS. Can you imagine a Refresher's Orb in this game? Suddenly GADGET of all people becomes a problem with the ability to cover half the map in AoEbola.

I kinda knew what a moba was. but I was very surprised on how the profession system worked. it kinda had me in awe of how awesome it is. you play a match you earn progression towards abilities in a match. I really liked that. it just makes sense and it gives you a little bit of tactical choice.

Bought the founders' pack and have been playing it for 3 weeks, It's a very unique MOBA in the sense that you can actually you the landscape at your advantage, run up to a spot high up then just pop your head out from time to time and drop spells while people can't hit you. Or use the wall as cover to gain advantage over opposition in the open. It's a MOBA that requires both good aiming (even for basic attacks), skills (farming, ganking, invading, jungling, chaining ultimates, etc), good communication and (sh*t you not) WARDING.

I play on PC (Can't see myself playing MOBAs on anything else). I am also playing a few other MOBAs like SMITE, LoL and HotS. I have dabbled in playing other characters but, I mostly play Muriel in Paragon. I love her because she can turn a team-fight around quickly and save people with her choices. The game still has some really bad glitches that I have seen/experienced. For example: falling through the map, DCing randomly and like you said, "getting stuck". This of course frustrates me a lot of the time but, it's beta so, I expect it (Just wish it happened to someone else instead...). To me Paragon looks amazing and each character has their own kit but, the decks/card choices are what makes them. The characters to me do seem to be getting weirder and weirder though, making them VERY unique. I have been playing for about 2 months now since I got the invite. I have been been seeing steady changes in things to make the game more fun for all in the patch updates that they do. I have yet to buy into any founder packs since it is not needed and I haven't felt any pressure on having to do so. I have been enjoying the game so far and do hope to continue enjoying it.

But in this video (maybe because I don't know the heroes), I couldn't find a single "real" teamfight, like fast paced action that I really like in dota 2, seems like everybody just figuring out what is going on and picked heroes based on their looks. I play paragon and I absolutely love the fps moba spin.. yeah most the players didnt know how to play it at first so being a Moba vet... It was slightly annoying getting Qued up with the fresh new to moba players. but the advantage of getting a chance to be one of the firsts into the game it really gives me the chance to find bugs to help the devs fix or help make it a funner game to play ultimately. I love Epic games take on Moba's here and i think they really found themselves a winner with this game

I had a hard time wrapping my head around the 3rd person view since I never wanted to play SMITE, but once I got into it, it really made a huge difference in terms of how I focused on the map and how I viewed objectives. One of the biggest hurdles is vision though. If somethings going down in another lane, but there no communication, you have to guess at whether or not it's worth coming to their assistance.

gideon grux an grim.exe. trully original characters wit slight influence from other games (smite, god of war, an rachet an clank respectively, but i also enjoyed how truly unique each character felt. my only grievance is the infernal matchmaking times but thats to be expected since the game isnt live.

Loving the game so far. Bought the Founders pack when it was first released and have been playing daily since. Coming from League of Legends, I love the difference in gameplay. New strategies are being formed in this game and the graphics are incredible. Currently I think the champion pool is rather small, but Epic Games has promised that they will be releasing a new hero every 3 weeks so by the time the full game is released, there should be a decent champion pool.

Our PC gaming community is on this, and our PS4 community is on this, meaning everyone I know is playing the hell out of this. My only complaint (and its a huge one) is that we cant set up custom matchmaking to play against each other. Rampage is my main. "The Kick is good!"

This game is so Awesome. There is a big Learning Curve but of you pick hero and stick with him/her, you will get good. After I feel comfortable with a Hero, I switch to another and play for a couple of games until I get good and then switch again to a new one so on...I would recommend starting with Greystone.

After a week of trying out paragon it was an interesting experience because i have played MOBA's but mainly on pc with a keyboard and mouse. However this changed it up a bit with the controller. Personally i though they mapped it pretty well and there are settings for you change the button map but the defaults are pretty good. My initial impression was that it was soooooooo slow i really took time before my character could actually attack faster and do some damage so if your not a patient person paragon isnt for you. Though what drew me back was the character types, using different ranged and close combat characters change the experience and made it pretty fun. I say if anything dont get this alone get this to play with friends that where your experience is going to come from

The best way for this to appeal to console players is if they have just an arena mode like smite. Where the players have one objective each in a big field and will mostly face off against each other. It was very easy to learn and made playing my first MOBA on console fun.

It's 5 months later and I still love the game. I'm a founder and I saw a trailer of this game in the ps store. I thought it was awesome and I bought it without doing any research. It was extremely confusing at first, like having to unlock your character's abilities each game you play, or putting cards on to become more powerful. After about 2 months I was a lot better, and I was having a lot of fun. Right now I'm level 48, still having just as much fun as when I started. My recommendation: TRY THAT SHIT!

I was fortunate enough to get into the Alpha testing phase and thus can play the early access for free. This is a fun take on third person Moba's with some very interesting ideas. The polish over most of the game is great, but there are still several issues with pacing and the card system as well as small bugs here and there, and minor balance issues. If you REALLY enjoy mobas, then feel free to pay the $20- 100 for the early access and extra goodies. If you are on the fence though, or like to wait until the game is Completely finished, I really don't think you will miss too much waiting for the Summer Open Beta. Hope that helps guys.

I just started playing Paragon, but I guess you can call me a veteran when it comes to MOBAs. I think this game has a lot of potential. The game is gorgeous and it's nice to see a MOBA that moves away from the cartoony look. The heros are all unique and the use of a card system is pretty cool. However, I do agree that the gameplay feels a bit slow. The out-of-combat sprint is a great addition, but even in large team fights the gameplay doesn't match the excitement of League or Smite. Also, the game is lacking character. It's still in early release, but some lore behind the heros would go a long way with a lot of people. Overall I'm very excited to see what this game will amount to and I can't wait until a strong Paragon community emerges

You know, I never regreted buying the founders pack and playing the early-access because, look at the potential this game has in the future, maybe there were some inspirations here and there from Dota, Smite, LoL, and some others but.. I believe as the community grows this game will be amazing, and i never would regret being a "founder" because as small as anyone's interference in this game, in the future, it will create a big impact for a MOBA all around To Sum it up i'd reccomend this game, truly.

I feel that Paragon being free for the Ps4 plus base was a great move. I do agree that the Ps4 community {not all of them} are not use to the different elements. I came from getting my feet wet in Smite and a mobile moba know VainGlory. Which I felt gave me a good understanding of how to catch on. I feel the character do take a life on of there own, however , they don't express themselves unless in on the map where their charisma really shins. It's a great game, very addicting, where I only have basic critiques. I feel it's a more objective based moba, that going to into matches lasting minutes or hours. The only problem I really had while play co-operative against the AI. My entire team dropped and AI bots didn't take over my abandon team. But when 69 - 2 before I have to surrender{good times }

Pt 2 I love the look and feel of Paragon. Going with a simple item upgrade system makes me feel like I know how to at least play the standard decks they provide and that the card system makes the game very customizable, unique, and as simple or complicated as the far as the user can understand what these cards and upgrades can do. I know the PC gods look down on us peasant console players. But I do feel the platform won't matter the skill of the play will shine through no matter if they are PC god or console online warrior. It is worth checking out even if only downloading it on Ps4 for the early access.

I like it. I've played little bits here and there throughout the Alpha, and it's a good game so far. My gripe though is not with this game... its with Heroes of the Storm... because Heroes of the Storm has spoiled me with an easy-to-pick-up, but hard-to-master approach, and with HoTS, the matches are much shorter so it doesn't feel like a grind. The trick here is for Epic to make the game like a MOBA without feeling like a MOBA, and in that regards, they still have a ways to go.

this is my first moba and I do have to say it is a fun game, there is a high learning curve and not much of a tutorial unless you go on the forums.
