Love the various ways you paint your figures. Gives them such character. I hope to be as good as you one day.

Great! Is there any way to acquire these figures? What is the scale?
@marklinnane17442 жыл бұрын
The scale is more 1/30 scale rather then 1/32. The site I got them from was Hobbybunker , an American site.

Why do some soldiers have light gray uniforms and hats? shouldn't Union cavalry be all blue?
@marklinnane1744 Жыл бұрын
Hi. They are Cavalry from the Indian wars . They are wearing shirts ,not actual Cavalry jackets. From 1874- 78 the army issued shirt colour was grey. Though many men wore their own privately purchased shirts. Wasnt till the 1880s the standard issued shirts were blue. As for the hats ,grey hats could be quite common, but like the shirts were often privately purchased. Straw hats for example were commonly worn on campaign in the summertime.

@@marklinnane1744 hi !!! , I don't know if I understood correctly.......so the standard color of the shirt should have been the light gray color, but many soldiers preferred to buy a blue shirt...... perhaps many soldiers seeing the gray shirt reminded them the Confederate troops, so they bought a blue shirt ...

@@bluefraa4523 The colour shirts that the soldiers bought would have been different types of colours like red,white,hickory, etc. I didn't paint those colours though because I liked the blue shirt look, which afterall is the colours people think of when it comes to the U.S Cavalry and more suitable for the 1880s anyway. I wanted to paint some in grey for more historical accuracy, which would be more suitable for the battle of the little bighorn for example in 1876.

@@marklinnane1744 it's strange that the American authorities have allowed the same soldiers to wear uniforms of other "non-regular" colors especially in battle..... yes it is true in fact it is generally thought that the American army after the civil war has always worn blue shirts or jackets, and also in many Western movie they are always seen in blue color. Thank you very much for this interesting explanation. it's an aspect of the history that I didn't know.

@@bluefraa4523 no problem 👍. Yes , when it came to uniforms out in the west the regulations regarding uniforms were pretty lax for a number of yrs after the civil war. I think a lot was due to lack of military spending after the civil war. Soliders were allowed to make do. The battle of the little bighorn for example many of the men would have looked non regulation, although most would have worn the blue pants/ trousers. I think during the 1880s it became more regulated.
