I had one of these as a rental for over a week and it's the best car I've ever driven. The power is perfect, the drive is so smooth yet you still feel connected. The best thing was I found myself finding reasons to drive places again which means this car put the fun back into driving for me. If I didn't have 3 kids I'd have one already but for now, the 7 seater will have to do as space is king!

have a 2017 . Currently 140k miles - Stage 1 remap. combined 333BHP. I share all the positive comments with PCL - only add that I drive 200 miles / day to work and back and still get 50-57 MPG -charging it at home and at work. Only use super petrol only- as it gives more umph....lol ...and better fuel economy ( and only 7 p dearer than regular at TESCO) . I highly recommend this car to everyone who can charge it home and at work . Otherwise the MPG will be max 40 ...... it is Plug In Hybrid as the name says and to get the most out of it needs bot power source. as for equipment : Comfort seats - massage seats- ceramic pack- 4 ways climate- and the usual whistles and bells. It is a very nice place to be in - especially when dark outside and the mood light really sets the atmosphere inside. I can say : best car I had so far ....

Hello. Im actually looking into purchasing a 2018 530e. when you say you get around 50-57 MPG, is that when using a combination of the electric + petrol driving mode?

Out of 20 cars which I drove in the past 25 years, this is by far the best car I've ever owned. It's even better than my legendary E60.

I bought a 530e a few weeks ago. A 530d still works out better in terms of cost per mile. I still only get around 40mpg of combined electric and petrol engine. The one thing I really like about this car is just how smooth it is. The electric and petrol engine is really smooth and is great on a short and long journeys. I love driving it and it's not as noisy as the diesel version. I guess, if you are doing loads of miles you still cannot beat Diesel but for me and my lower mileage usage it's perfect. Yes ,the boot is smaller but again, I don't carry alot of stuff around either so it doesn't bother me. If I wanted to do lots of mileage and carry loads of stuff then the 530d touring would be where I would look. However, if you want a smooth cruiser and you don't carry alot of stuff around then this is perfect. Also, this car does charge the battery itself if you want it to. You don't have to plug it in.
@cazacu7267 Жыл бұрын
Yes, but it automatically increases consumption if you charge the battery itself but how much? What is it like to drive the car without a charged battery, what is consumption etc? And how many km do you have with a 100% charged battery? I I heard different answers this is why a ask.. I want to buy this car and I don't know exactly how the car behaves.. if you could give me some details abor the car I would be very grateful. Thank u
@dukedutch1981 Жыл бұрын
@@cazacu7267love to give you insight. I would buy it directly without a doubt. If you can’t charge at home and fully utilize the electric, great. If you’re like me a daily drive way more, it’s still a thing of beauty! You can choose how the car applies electric personally to fit your needs. In my case I’ll always leave about 40% charge in. This way, when I want to go into sports mode and apply all horse power available, I can always. The car makes sure it will stay within that range by taking breaking energy etc. I don’t care as much if consumption is (in interval) a bit higher when it generates from the engine, I have a company agreement to expense fuel :). Alternatively, people less like me (normal), can use it in urban environments and let the ICE run you down the highways. Everything is possible. Mainly EU cities have e-zones now. When you plan you route in your car, the car can identify them and save it’s electricity to meet those criteria. For the rest… The drive is simply amazing! Last point, please take the touring if you want to carry stuff around. I love the sedan better looks wise, but touring is just more practical instead of a small little trunk.
@TheJVCMan Жыл бұрын
@cazacu7267 the amoubt of miles you getcon pure electric depends on the weather believe it or not. In colder weather its around 15 miles and in hotter weather it goes up to about 25. However the combined figures are are around 39/40 mpg if you drive sensible. Its still not bad for a big car like this. If you are concerned alot over mpg I would look at other cars. I charge the battery outside my house at night. It takes a few hours. Sometimes I will charge it while I drive on the motorway as well (self charging) it does not impact the mpg a huge amount when I do that. You dont have to charge to it at the mains and the battery is always keeping some charge in it and recycling the brakes and engine to keep a charge in the battery. Different modes on the car as well impact on how much you use the electric element. Its a great car but there are better choices if you want mpg.

I'm now 9 months into ownership of a 530e, I do very low mileage so fuel economy is not a deal breaker for me. I was going to install a home charger but after driving it for a while I decided to simply leave it in self charge hybrid mode. It's a lovely car to live with. Flawed yes, but still I concur with this review on almost every point.

So what are the flaws?
@elthamlad4683 ай бұрын
@@PaulPaid Well, it will depreciate faster than a diesel, and is less desirable as a used car due to worries surrounding the longevity of the batteries. It doesn't have as good fuel economy as a diesel around town unless you do small commutes and charge each night. On a motorway fuel economy improves massively. Other than that I have had mine over a year now and it's been a great car. Very reliable and no issues. Super comfy, great drive, real head turner. It's a car you get out of then have to take a look back at it just to remind yourself how aesthetically pretty it is. It's not a car for everyone but it suits some.

As a boring man that buys his wardrobe from M&S I have had 5 BMW 5 series. My latest I is a 2019 530e. I’m 115k miles in and it really is the best 5 series I’ve had. I know the battery will fail but it still takes a full charge and delivers the same performance as new. The first 6 miles of my drive to work is back lanes. Then I hit the M6 so the engine steps at 70 MPH from stone cold I don’t get it but it works.

Very difficult to say as my battery still takes a full charge and tips up a little with regeneration. My commute of 60 miles with 15 on the M6 returns top 40s to 50 mpg. I can do better but drive it quite hard. Same run if I’ve not plugged in will be high 30s. This has only happened a couple of times. Also setting the preconditioning is good habit particularly in winter. Whilst it means you get into a nice warm car with clear windows more importantly the battery has been warmed up This improves range and life. Mines is ready 15 mins before departure every morning

the only downsize of those cars are they break easily as i know from some people also i google it, and i saw this information, about BMW Well because a lot of car manufacturers look for ways to make their cars cheap. BMW cars fall in that category, being as though a lot of parts that function around the engine are made out of plastic. Engines conduct a lot of heat and plastic melts from heat, which causes a lot of problems, such a shame so amazing cars have plastic parts on the engine

The only part of the engine made of plastic that can give issues is the oil filter housing. These can leak after 70k miles and are easy enough to replace as its the gasket that fails not the actual housing.
