He played all the hits nonstop for 3 hours!!!! Who does that/?? Certainly NOT the Sir Elton Johns of the World!!! The whole building sang to every song he sang! I was actually a little embarassed, in case, he thought we , as an audience were trying to "take over"... He IS THE ultim entertainer!

Ranked 3rd on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1975 chart... Reached #1 in Canada At 5 mins. & 38 secs. in lenght; one of the longest of #1 records... B/side of the record was "I Saw Her Standing There" with John Lennon {live version} Was 6th in a string of 8 straight records by Elton John to make the Top 10.

This song's orchestral parts were arranged by the late great and sorely missed Gene Page who arranged tons of Motown hits, arranged songs for Frank Sinatra, Elton, Kenny Rogers, Lionel Richie, Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart, but he's probably best known for arranging all of the big hits for Barry White in the 70's. His string arrangements have a very distinct sound that I recognize anywhere each and every time. He was brilliant, and a much sought after arranger in the music industry. R.I.P. Gene

Now this demonstrates the power of an artist ... I saw him, The Elton-ness deliver this gem of a song on Soul Train and immediately and instinctively understood the physical and vocal reactions of the Soul Train Dancers ... I was and had already been acting the same way myself ...!!!.. But here is the main thing ... Elton is neither Philadelphian nor American ... but all around the world, and even within North America itself, we all FEEL this song ... that canst never be taken away ... and that summarises why artists are here on earth ...!!!... Through all the the temperament, tantrums and tiaras ... dear Elton, dear Dwight, dear Sir and Mr John ... beautiful, handsome, strong and intelligent gent ... you remind me why I have a soft spot for artists in the first place ...!!!... Blessings unto thee, David and 'young lads' ... MWAHH !!! P.S ... Dear PRELTON ... as in 'Professor Elton' ... yes, knoweth we that thou art a professor slash doctorate holder yet thou choosest not to declare this ... we know this and move on to the next sentence at the risk of thou being rendered uncharacteristically bashful by our labouring this point beyond that which is comfortable for thee ...!!!....This is the video I would show thy dad before gently knocking him over the head and asking him to explain how he struggled to get what the rest of the world just seems to GET, for GOD's sake !!!
