My wife and I were looking for instructional videos on using the Pilot Parallel pen. Then we quite serendipitously came across your A-F video and were absolutely transfixed by your skill and the accompanying music overlay. I have learned to write with the nib when i was in elementary school, loong time ago. It is a very valuable skill, not only for writing, but also for painting adn any other crafting. We should teach our children to use the nib and ink, before starting to use the biro. You are very good at what you are doing here. I think though, you may hold the pen to hard, the fingers a re to tight. Think of holding a very small bird... the fingers should not loos colour, i mean the falangette are becoming white, they should not. Try, you will not get tired, and you will be more relaxed in the writing. :D I love you Art, you are great.
@Uvulus18 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. :) I know that I hold my pens in a unconventional manner and that my grip is way too hard. It's a difficult habit to break after holding a pen this way for 40 plus years. :) I appreciate your advice. Thanks. I am working on modifying my grip though. We'll see how that goes.

Hi 😁 I'm a 16 year old who just got the pilot parallel pen, and your videos have helped me a lot. Any advice to beginners? Also, I'm left handed so it's kinda hard to avoid smudging everything 😔 anyway, I love your work, and hopefully, I'll be able to be as good as you someday 😁
@Uvulus18 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you like the videos and that they are helpful for you. :) Keep practicing! :) There are some good videos on KZbin about left handed calligraphy that may help you with technique. The best advice I have is to practice and write every day. I always have a sketchpad with me and at least one pen.

@Uvulus19 жыл бұрын
+Strachinariu Ciprian Thank you. I don't really get paid for doing this yet so I don't think I'll be much help to you there. I studied design a bit in college. Mostly I study on my own, practicing different ways to write until I come up with something that I like. Thanks again.

I feel very honored that you replied to me. Do you have everything planned before making the videos or do you make everything up at the moment? I write anything you want :D Thank you for replying and for existing again.
@Uvulus19 жыл бұрын
+Strachinariu Ciprian I usually have practiced what I want to write a few times before filming. Yes, I get tired and burnt out sometimes (probably why there hasn't been a new video lately). Even when I'm not feeling very good about my writing, I continue to practice writing every day though.

You can use them like dip pens. It's a good way to mix colors, actually. I don't usually clean them every time unless I'm changing colors. I clean them once a week or so otherwise.

I just started writing whatever with them to get used to them. Then I started learning Fraktur and italic (which I'm horrible at) and kept going from there. /r/calligraffiti on reddit has a word of the day that I did every day for about a year. Got lots of practice doing that.

thanks for the reply , where can i get the enough material to practice for italic and fraktur. and what is /r/calligraffiti reddit
@Uvulus19 жыл бұрын
There are a few books out there with numerous calligraphy alphabets. The Calligrapher's Bible is pretty good. Google image search is great for finding examples. www.reddit.com/r/calligraffiti is the address. A word of caution though, you may or may not like reddit, it can get pretty weird there. The calligraffiti and calligraphy subreddits are pretty good though. If you have a Facebook account, there are quite a few people there worth following.
