Me too! It provides a nice contrast with the more rambunctious parts. This piece is all about contrasting styles (though all in dance tempo), and is nicely balanced IMO.

Since the first theme mostly has locked hands in parallel motion, except for the bars of more traditional fox trot bass (walking octaves and forward tenths), the wide open melodic spaces in the second theme are a relief, where the right hand can soar, and then the left can melodically provide a counterpoint in the breaks. The trio brings all these elements together in a glorious release and it really is a landmark among Tom’s compositions and a very fine rag in general.

Tom Published this composition in 2010. It is included in his "Blue Sahara" Folio. It includes all the songs on his Blue Sahara CD, including the one you want. He sells his CD's at Festivals he attends. Also via mail if you can contact him.. He is on Facebook. Good luck on contacting him..........VBR

About four or five bars of the beginning of the trio are included as a sneak-preview in the frontspiece of the folio that Tom, I, Vincent Johnson and Eric Marchese jointly published in 2015 or so called "Modern Folio of Novelty Piano Solos" (after the old Jack Mills folios). This folio includes the complete scores to "You Said It" by Tom; "Y-Knot" by Tom; "Hot Rod Tommy" co-composed by Tom and Vincent; "Crunchin' the Keys" co-composed by Tom and Eric; "Mashing the 88s" by Eric; "Sunshine Kisses" by Vincent; "Octopus on the Keys" by Vincent; and "Flying Rhino" by me. (8 complete pieces). The frontspiece "teaser" includes only four to six bars apiece of the following: "Magic Trix" by Vincent; "New Age Rag" by Eric; "Frequent Flyer Rag" by me; "Perplexity" by Vincent; "White Lightening" by Tom; "Parallelograms" by Tom; "Melted Pumpkins" by Eric and Tom; and "Keyboard Konniptions" by Vincent. There is also an introduction with a paragraph or so about each piece by the composers. At the time we put it together (I think Tom and Vincent did most of the work typesetting etc, although we all sent in computer-typeset versions of our works), we all jointly decided to print and sell the folio separately so we could all take a cut in the profits. I don't think it's been "on the market" for years, but I was cleaning out my old room at my parents' house the other day and stumbled upon a cardboard box with half a dozen or more of these folios, new old stock, if anyone wants one. When i do the description of the performer at same venue, I just go to my already posted video's and Copy/Paste with mimimal change.........I do NOT have another of Tom playing this tune. In my haste i didn't make the correction and delete this line, as it applied to another video. I will so edit and remove that statement. Sorry, my fault.........But thanks for asking.
