What would you do if one of your legs was broken in half and you had no crutches? When your wheelchair is your ONLY way to get around…it’s very FRUSTRATING when it breaks.
Disclaimer: My husband is amazing and not defined by his disability. However, when Dan was injured 8.5 years ago, he sat in his hospital bed and searched the internet for anything to give him hope that life could still be worth living after being paralyzed. He found NOTHING inspiring. He felt extremely hopeless. Our dream has been to put content out there that shows newly injured people (and anyone else) that there IS hope and lots of life that can be lived after tragedy. In order to reach those people that NEED our videos, I have to put the words “paralyzed” and “wheelchair” right up front so that the KZbin algorithm shows it to those searching with those words. Dan was able to find a set of old bearings he had ordered on Amazon and replace them last night! His chair is working again!!! We were so thankful to randomly find those bearings! I’ll post a video soon of baby Marlee *helping* to fix the wheelchair last night lol. Love you all!

My daughter and I was told by her specialist once until some power in the insurance company has a first hand experience of the diagnosis or a family member they have no clue nor do they take time to care to make quicker actions to resolve problem at hand. Dan, have you considered using Wim Hoff method to help with nerve pain? You are absolutely right. There seems to be an emotional component to nerve pain. The breathing exercises and cold showers help me. Just a thought.

Dan, sorry to hear your trouble with parts. Sadly this is an issue with many wheelchair users. I bent a fork making my chair unusable and it took about three weeks just to get a new one. Stay strong and I am glad you were able to find a set of bearings that worked.

Wheelchair problems are real!! I can remember a few times my husband’s wheelchair broke down when we were on vacation. The VA told us to order parts from a company that was no where near us. So we were stuck in a hotel and I was manually pushing him in electric wheelchair they weigh around 375 pounds. I hope they get your chair fixed soon.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I can't understand why you need a doctor's script to replace something so small, yet so important to you. Oh, my gosh. It's ridiculous what all you have to do to get your chair fixed. All I need to do is call the wheelchair company directly or call the OT I see at muscular dystrophy clinic and she sets up the appointment for me. So glad you found the used ball bearings.

It's super expensive, and if you pay outright, then your medical benefits won't pay. When you're low income, you don't have the extra funds to buy the things you need. You are literally stuck under the thumb of that.. and no, they don't care how long you ha e to wait, just as long as you go through ALL their hoops, and in the right way. If you get that part wrong, they make you go back to the beginning and start all over!

Dan, I don't know what state you are in. However, do you have large physical therapy places in your state? I have a family member in a wheelchair, and they go to their rehab place to get the chair fixed. We are in Michigan, so they go to Mary Free Bed. Or do you have a Carelink or Airway Oxygen in your state? They sell parts for some things as well.

It’s disgusting!! In America I’ve seen on tv when people come in and knock down houses and build brand new ones for the peoples needs. They give them the top wheel chairs as well. Can anyone tell me why this poor sweetheart has to suffer like this. I’m English and if I was from America I would find these people and tell them to do this for DAN. I've been there done that. All the red tape and bureaucracy and power minded people. It's getting worse since the pandemic. Then so much is computer correspondence all you need is to press the wrong button and have to start all over no one to help it's not their monkey. I am 79 years old try that on for size the most tec l ever done was an electric type writer. You sir are an amazing man with so much love for your family, bravo😍 very sexy too.

When the chair is messed up like that, why doesn't Mom put baby to bed and save all the frustration & extra work from Dad? Can the wheelchair be pushed? Maybe someone can push them till the chair is fixed? Breaks my heart if stress is a trigger for the episodes of horrific pain for him. I just get severely frustrated with bureaucracy and all their stupid red tape that does nothing but create ridiculously long waits for things that are needed immediately.
