Great catch. I only saw standard ambulances in HK. We used to have motorcycle response units in Queensland Australia, but I believe NSW is the only state to use them. We do have bicycles response units but that just doesn't have the same awe as an 1100cc police spec motorbike.

Thank you! The motorcycles respond all the time in HK. You must have just missed them. Yea not too many places use them these days, but it still seems to work for the HKFSD so they keep introducing newer generations of paramedic motorbikes.

3:36 Description Mobile Casualty Treatment Centre (MCTC) is fitted with lifting platform and protruding search lights. A surgical room is set up on each MCTC; it is equipped with a great variety of life supporting equipment for providing on-site medical treatment to casualties in the event of major incident. Function MCTC will be dispatched to incident where there is a request for more than four ambulances. Haha I’ve just gotten pretty good at asking nicely lol 😁 I had actually gone the official route and requested a tour of Sai Wan Ho Ambulance Depot through the FSD website (because I wanted to see the MCTC up close), but the request was denied. However, I find that it is usually easier to ignore the whole bureaucracy and just show up. I was only there for around 2 hours I think, so can’t really complain about the lack of fire responses, but all the ambulance clips made up for it. Let’s see those vids!! 😄

Dankeschön! Ja, Hong Kong ist einfach krass 😵 Das ist ein mass casualty unit (MANV). Von denen gibt’s mehrere in HK, und die kommen immer dann zum Einsatz wenn mehr als vier Rettungswagen für einen Einsatz alarmiert sind.

@@EifelBlaulichtTV Das Fahrzeug ist hauptsächlich für die Erstversorgung von Patienten am Einsatzort da. Im Fahrzeug gibt es mehrere Behandlungsbereiche, und sogar einen Operationsaal. Eine Hebebühne befindet sich am Heck, und es gibt ein Flutlicht. Zusammen mit dem MCTC kommt auch immer der Paramedic Equipment Tender (PET) zum Einsatz (ein MAN Truck), das ist mehr ein Gerätewagen für den Rettungsdienst.

Trivia: Ambulances are informally called "白車" (lit. white vehicle, though the term is loathed by paramedics) in Cantonese for their typical white livery, but I guess after a few years you can only find white ambulances in neighbouring Shenzhen and Macau...

Yes, the motorbike sirens are louder in this video because they do not have a volume control function. The ambulances usually turn down the siren volume unless there is heavy traffic and the call is very urgent. That’s how they reduce noise pollution in Hong Kong. The white unit that I recorded may already be retired now.

The volume control is one of those unique things in Hong Kong, but often frustrating for emergency vehicle spotters like me haha HK is one of the most densely populated places on earth. It’s an extremely fascinating place, also for its fusion of Asian and European cultures. That’s why I keep going back to explore.
