Iv found your video so interesting! I'm currently studying to be a paramedic but I know il be bored after a few years of being qualified. Knowing there is a possibility of going further gives me a lot of hope for my future. Great talk... thank you

This video was so helpful! I’m about to finish my Access course at college after working as a Carer for 5 years. I start UWE bristol in September to study Paramedic Science, but during this college course I’ve realised I have a lot more potential and a knack for biology which is fascinating to me! My revised plan is to work as a paramedic for 2 years after graduating before applying to study Graduate medicine. So helpful to see that this is a pathway that works. Thanks! 👏🏻

Have you heard about the new fast track method from paramedic to doctor - 3yrs instead of 6 at Med school

@@crodaxgames1338 remember that brexit has not long ago (Jan 2021) fully finished which means that the UK doesn't have to follow European regulations in doctors having to do med school for 5+ years. They are have been working on this new 3yr fast track method for paramedics and pharmacist for a few months now, these things take time as they have to reduce a 5+ year very intense medical school down to a 3 year fast track course, I think in the next couple of years (3-5 maybe) this will be ready and because we are out of the EU, they can implement this 3yr course.

@@OllieBurtonMed I'm currently studying Sports Science and would like to work in Sport related medicine. Would a degree in medicine be required to qualify as a physician?
@OllieBurtonMed3 жыл бұрын
@@mohsan9015 I'm so sorry I never replied to this, but yes - a physician is a doctor and you'd need a medical degree to work as a sports medic. I'm sure there are lots of physio and paramedic roles available too if you didn't want to endure the training!

So does this mean that you can become a paramedic and then go on to become a doctor with extra training and study?
@OllieBurtonMed4 жыл бұрын
I would see them as two separate career paths really. In this case Will was a paramedic and is now a junior doctor, but he had to go to medical school for that, it wasn't an extension of his paramedic training per se.
@Nathan-tk7ou4 жыл бұрын
Yes but can you get into med school with a paramedical science degree?
@OllieBurtonMed4 жыл бұрын
@@Nathan-tk7ou Yes you can indeed, it's a perfectly acceptable degree before graduate entry medicine

It depends on the medical school - for Warwick it's the UCAT, but some schools would require the gamsat

Did u have a honours degree ? Or don’t u need one if you’re studying paramedics ?
@OllieBurtonMed4 жыл бұрын
Will would have graduated with what I assume was a BSc in Paramedic Sciences - this would be a standard honours degree in the UK anyway I believe.
