After Laughter is what happens when Emo kids grow up to be young adults with jobs and the pressure of responsibility and independence, trying to just be happy when it’s never that simple. Hayley has always wanted to be a singer just how I always wanted to be a paramedic... now she has her band and even a Grammy and yet she’s not happy but sometimes the opposite, just like how I just graduated from nursing school at 22yrs but now there’s nights when I can’t sleep. I can relate to songs like this sooo much and that is why Paramore is forever one of my all time favorite bands and After Laughter one of my all time favorite albums.
@kairocastillo23756 жыл бұрын
For all those that don’t like the new retro sound you probably don’t get it. Hayley and the rest of the band are not the same people they were 10yrs ago and although Riot! and Brand New Eyes were amazing albums the bands sound needed to change because they’ve changed. To be stuck in the past is to not be moving forward. Paramore is still Paramore because they are making music that represents them now and not who they were.
@dg02106 жыл бұрын
Kairo Castillo YESSS!! I’m tired of people bashing them for their new sound and calling them a sellout. Although the 80’s music wise has made a comeback, people can’t expect them to stay the same forever. People mature, and change as they get older it’s just a matter of fact and life :/// And if people don’t like their new sound, that is fine, but don’t be trying to spread hate by calling them a bandwagon and stuff. And they still have the great lyrics like in their older music :)

This song was written as a call for people to be more open about their mental health. "'Rose-Colored Boy' is a song about feeling pressured to look at the world with blind optimism when you actually feel very hopeless about the world and your part in it," the band explained "There is so much social pressure to be (or appear to be) "happy" that we can actually feel shame when we aren't." "Adding shame to sadness is a pretty toxic cocktail," they added. "It's hard enough to deal with sadness, depression, or any type of anxiety without the added societal expectations. It's important and more healing to meet people where they're at - EMPATHY - than to try and paint everything rosy."

I'm honestly concerned for hayley's mental health after everything... the divorce, the lawsuit, the pressure from fans, this must be so overwhelming for her. Hayley, if you're seeing this, I hope you're doing well. You're a good person, you have a lot of talent on your hands and there is no shame in taking care of yourself, taking care of your mental health and giving yourself a break. The people who support you will always understand. This is also true for everyone out there who's going through a lot recently. You're valid, you're loved, people care about you even if you don't notice it yet. Don't listen to what depression has to say because it's not true, it's the chemicals in your brain playing bad tricks on you Edit: its been 11 months since i posted this and im a bit shocked at how much repercussion it took. I am glad that what i said made someone's day, thank you You are valid, you deserve to be happy

This is going to sound corny, but I think you are still the person you were before... But you're more, too. I think of that scene in Moana where she realizes that she is the hero because she chooses to be...and she remembers who she is, where she comes from, and where she's going. I think you can still call up the good things you've been and done before. But you can add to that the learning, depth, compassion and understanding you've gained since then. Nothing is ever truly lost forever.

This album really hit hard for me, at the time that it came out. I had just finally found out that I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, before that I struggled with being “happy.” Suppressing my true feelings. My therapist at the time told me I needed to cry more, so this song in particular really meant a lot to me. I don’t always need to be happy, because that isn’t always possible. However I feel a lot better after crying, because it helps cope with the pain, and helps me grow. This song is my anthem with my battle with accepting crying as a strength and not a weakness.

Low-key, no pressure Just hang with me and my weather Low-key, no pressure Just hang with me and my weather Rose-colored boy I hear you making all that noise About the world you want to see And oh, I’m so annoyed Because I just killed off What was left of the optimist in me Hearts are breaking Wars are raging on And I have taken my glasses off You got me nervous I’m right at the end of my rope A half-empty girl Don’t make me laugh, I’ll choke Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain’t going to smile if I don’t want to Hey man, we all can’t be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My rose-colored boy Low-key, no pressure Just hang with me and my weather And I want you to stop insisting That I’m not a lost cause Because I’ve been through a lot Really all I’ve got is just to stay pissed off If it’s alright by you But hearts are breaking And wars are raging on And I have taken my glasses off You got me nervous When you’re turning it into a joke A half-empty girl Don’t make me laugh, I’ll... Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain’t going to smile if I don’t want to Hey, man, we all can’t be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My rose-colored boy Leave me here a little bit longer I think I want to stay in the car I don’t want anybody seeing me cry now You say "We got to look on the bright side" I say "Well maybe if you want to go blind" You say my eyes are getting too dark now But boy, you ain’t ever seen my mind Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain’t going to smile if I don’t want to Hey, man, we all can’t be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My rose-colored boy Just let me cry a little bit longer I ain’t going to smile if I don’t want to I know we all can’t be like you I wish we were all rose-colored too My rose-colored boy Low-key, no pressure, Just hang with me and my weather Low-key, no pressure Just hang with me and my weather

Okay, so this is FANTASTIC. A friend of mine just gave a talk in front the school that gives the same message and vibes of this song: it's okay to have emotions other than happiness. To constantly be smiling and happy is something we're constantly told to do to "lead healthy lives" even though it does the exact opposite. Sick video Paramore.

This really may be your best music video, guys. The symbolism, the costumes, the editing, the fact all 3 of you are in it and get to shine, the EVERYTHING. So proud of this band for this level of self expression.

when you stop to think about the story behind this song (it's actually about Hayley's struggle with mental-health issues) and relate it to the video, you can actually see it's probably one of their saddest and most powerful ones - and also one of the best. mental health should never be taken any less seriously than any other issue and people tend to forget that. thank you for bringing these issues to the mainstream light. be strong Hayley, be strong guys.

But I let her down, and she wanted to leave. I have absolutely no bad feelings towards her and I wish her the absolute best. On the same year this song was released, a Junior who's bigger than me grabbed my neck and showed it off to some school visitors.. they laughed I was confused and just ran off... It was horrible, and I even told my parents about it.... My mom blamed me for it.... And that made me feel shit.... The line "Just let me cry a little bit longer" was like my tag line after hearing this song, like it gave me the right to feel bad or horrible about what happened because the whole time everyone just wanted me to be happy and ok again.... Without even trying to help me out of the situation that I was in.... This song eased me a lot like so much..... 😢... Thanks Paramore

imnotafangirlimajasmine its more like pop punk and disco, real punk is a lot harder and louder. It’s still a really good blend though, the 70s disco sound mixed with that pop punk chorus is incredible
@jamieruarijohnson72586 жыл бұрын
Have you actually listened to either of these genres?
@sebastianyanez62336 жыл бұрын
Alexander Parkin most 80s pop is basically disco, except without the trumpets and violins but its still got the funky guitar groove to it plus the four on the floor beat, so you could definitely call it disco. I’d say the only 80s thing about the song is the way the drums sound, but the guitar and bass is pure disco

I've been a fan since the early 2000's. Never been to a performance though. For some reason I started watching heaps of Paramore videos a few months ago (probably my eternal love for Hayley). Through Fueled by Ramen I discovered they were playing in Melbourne Australia this week. No friends wanted to go. No family were able to go. What would you do? I decided to go on my own because I couldn't live with myself if I missed this opportunity. So if you see a middle aged gentleman rocking out on his own tomorrow, give me a high five.
