i relate her outfit to the part of the songs that says "if i go out tonight, dress up my fears", she literally dressed up her fears, this was no easy thing for hayley to do, it's kinda like her trying to put on some type of mask on so she can blend in and fit in with others, trying to make everything that's underneath the mask look better.
@immiwright73866 жыл бұрын

I think the video is great and really captures the deeper meaning of the lyrics. Just like the happy refrain of the melody, Hayley is seen as carefree - dancing around, but always with her back to the camera so you never see her face. She stands out among a sea of 'fake happy' anonymous robots. Then right at the end she turns and you realise she is fake happy- just like the rest of them. 'I bet everybody here is fake happy too'. So clever!

i really love how they started the video with the close up of her face and then it got blurred before closing up and then she turned around. it's really nice how the whole point of the video is to not see her face while she interacts with other people, other fake happy people. it feels kinda unsettling because you can't know the expression she's making nor you can know the expression the others made when they saw her and that pretty much sums up the meaning of the song, of how people hide beneath a mask of fake happiness. and then when it gets to the end and she turns around, you can see the tears track on her cheeks, that she's been crying all along and when she puts the mask on, like all the other people do, it's like she's putting the mask on for herself too, no longer being able to face that she's not really happy as she knows but the others don't.

"fake happy" generally refers to how people try to put a smile on and stay optimistic, how tf are you going to feel better about dancing if no one feels obliged to treat you positively? I am not sure if Paramore meant to do this, but this song, for me, speaks to the phenomenon that happens with people that suffer from depression/anxiety and are around people that do not. The song is saying, let me feel what I am feeling. Stop telling me to get better or be happy because it is not that easy. Stop down playing my mental illness because you do not suffer from it. Just let me cry a little bit longer.
@Meredith.A7 жыл бұрын
Zoe Melody exactly..I cannot even begin to explain how true that statement is..my anxiety, OCd depression,. panic disorder and ADHD have just taken over my life. I've become not capable of actually living and I feel like a prisoner of these invisible bars keeping me from living. I've seen people that suffer from cancer have a better outlook and more positive than I am..it's really shitty when you are given life but cannot seem to execute it because your so trapped in your own head and unhappiness ..ugh the worst part is my own therapist said "just don't listen to the negative thoughts" it's so much more than that . the only person that really understand my circumstances is only myself. I hate when people say stupid shit like be more positive, bro no offense.but you truly don't know or feel what I am going thru emotionally it's unexplainable it's not a competition but only I am me and only I feel like this, I mean scientifically only I have this brain. but I do agree sometimes people relish in they're depression they almost embrace it and instead of getting better (because they have pry given up) they go the opposite way and almost make themselves more sick . even tho I have been on both sides of the spectrum I do not want to live this way it's not even living at this point . I am putting in effort but the truth is it takes so much work and usually it's not curable but it can become liveable which is my goal at this point

One thing I like about Paramore is their unique music transitions. The notes are unexpected and are kind of new to ears. I like it. Plus, their songs are always catchy.
@mallorynicole73557 жыл бұрын
The whole point of the song is covering your unhappiness and putting on a show for people. Hayley herself has a lot of anxiety, as well, so I think that's why they had her dress so wildly and dance around the city in front of strangers. Most other people judge your appearance first rather than who you are personally, so maybe her pretending to be confident and content with herself is the direction they were trying to go with the vid. And then of course, at the end she is still sad and insecure on the inside amongst everyone else doing the same thing (just maybe not as evidently) and while they judge her, she knows that they are hiding their emotions the same way. Hope that made sense lol that's what I got from the video at least.
@u_ebullience_r47477 жыл бұрын
Oh, I thought so too. But, I also thought that the upside down faces on the strangers means " I bet everybody here is fake happy too"

spinachdip yeah maybe, but inspiration for songs has to come from somewhere. Plus this one has a lot of deep meaning to it, if they just wanted a catchy song to pay the bills they would've written another "Still Into You" (no hate on that song tho, I love it lol)

Hayley has improved so much over the years. The band has grown so much. They went from songs like Part II, Let The Flames Begin and Misery Business to Rose-Colored Boy & Hard Times. Her vocals are always amazing in every song and she’s just so versatile. Hayley is just a beautiful human being and anyone who hates on her or the band clearly doesn’t have ears to hear that she’s a great singer. I’ve been loving this band since 2015 and I will continue to love them. Love you Hayley❤️. - Brielle☺️

I feel like lately I've been "fake happy" & faking happiness to get through the day easily, but I've just been burnt out from it. I feel like I've cracked from constantly faking it & now I'm on a journey to find myself again as well as real happiness. When I first heard this song on the new album, I thought this was just a catchy beat, but now going the past 3-4 months of high anxiety & depression, I feel as though I can relate to this song's message. Don't sugarcoat your feelings guys, just be true to yourself with how you feel.
@zaimahalam76937 жыл бұрын
Well said. I hope it gets better for you, I'm also trying to recover from my 'down point'. However, for the past year I thought I was fixing myself by ignoring everything that had happened. I was lying to myself, essentially being fake happy. It's been hard because i've come to realize that not being true to yourself doesn't help.

I was talking to my brother about it because he deals with anxiety as well & he told me that once you're true to yourself, that's the first step of finding the proper mechanism to cope with it. When you're lying to yourself, you're convincing yourself that you're getting better instead of genuinely getting better. It's a hard road but i know you can get through it!!

Summer 2018. My best friend and I were on a road trip across the southwest to see one of our favorite comedy podcasts perform live. She had put a lot of 'After Laughter' on her playlist and this song in particular stood out to me, because of how perfectly it summed up my feelings at that time. Turns out she had been basically living a lie since I had last seen her, and she finally broke down and told me how 'fake happy' she really was. Now I don't see people smiling the same way I used to. I can tell when someone is smiling just for the sake of it. I can tell when they smile wearily, just because society expects them to. And I recognize that same smile on my own face whenever I try it on in the mirror.

The Best Paramore Album yet. I love everything. It's one of those albums you cannot skip any of the songs, but you listen to the entire thing from the first track to the last one. I love you Hayley, you are gorgeous. Zac, you are a fucking Rhythm genius. And Taylor, those strings man... back to Talking Heads and The Cure. Special acknowledgement to Justin Meldal Johnsen (Beck, Nine Inch Nails), for the great additional production and Carlos de la Garza for the mastering and engineering (You can actually hear someone saying "Carlos" Between "Fake Happy" and "26" on the Album, which is because they were making him a sign to start recording. It's a beautiful detail indeed). Love Paramore.

I don't think so, I mean to me this album wasn't what I expected, I would say Paramore (the album) was kind of the perfect mixture of rock and indie and I expected something like that, I started listening to Paramore because I love rock and I always identify Paramore like rock like Riot and all we know is falling but now it's indie pop, I mean it's okay if the guys want to change to something new but I think their essence has totally gone :( anyway this album is cool too and Hayley is such a talented women.

People crying about new sound and how paramore isn't what it was. Change is what supports evolution so it's not the same everytime, they already played that genre inside and out, and their lyrics are the same maybe even deeper than it once was
@pj2345-v4x6 жыл бұрын
Stavros Kolliniatis sometimes you have to lose fans when you send a message. It’s alright that the old fans are mad they lost an artist, they didn’t lose the old albums. Every new album should experiment, and you can tell this record wasn’t commercial or forced, it had intent and message. It’s as much a piece of art as anything they’ve made, if anyone thinks that paramore is just some pop band then they missed the point.
