both brakes apparently stayed stowed until you "touched down" without any actions except yelling "no, no!" why no brake input and/or attempt to flare?

Motor out 1.pull trims all the way in 2. Turn towards landing area 3. Try and restart motor if enough altitude/time. 4. If landing in water undo all harness buckles. 5. Never jump into water. Statiatic show we misjudge height and jump too high. 100ft looks like 10ft over water. Always give yourself an out or have enough altitude to land safely. These motors are reliable,but you can assume at some point you will have a motor out.

Good to have a plan in advance! To my experience: #3 - never works. Waste of time! Proceed to #4!

You can actually grab the rear risers and pull down and kind of artificially trim in and flare manually on landing. I’ve started doing this at because I’m landing at 9000+ ft and the breaks aren’t always enough. So I “over trim the wing” I learned it from some local speed flyers

@TwitchFlys lessons learnt .. to often we get complacent. I might try that next time with risers .. always good to have a plan b

glad you are okay. I'm going to provide some hopefully constructive criticism that you can hopefully learn from. You came in faster than you thought? You came in exactly as expected, you came in trims out and did not grab your brakes, you froze and did nothing when you had plenty of time to flare and land into the wind. You did have time to react you just froze. That is the lesson to learn here. Get on your brakes and flare. Your launch you were launching uphill, get over the hill and you would have a easier time. Safe flying.

Criticism always welcome .. I froze .. panicked because I was over an island .. I feared I would be stuck with people worrying about me .. i flared with tips lesson learnt but I was afraid to grab brakes incase I'd stall or deform wing .. point of the video is to show that in 3 seconds you can make some bad judgements I'm 8 years flying and I'm a safe pilot .. panic Induced bad choices .. I won't fly low over water again . What you don't see in video is at relaunch there is a cliff ..the tide was rising fast . My mind was in survival mode and I made mistakes ..

@@adriankenny9098 lessons learned and becoming a better pilot is worth it’s weight in gold. I will just say you weren’t in any danger of stalling the wing from grabbing brakes. Honest question Why would you think you would stall the glider? In that moment you were at full speed trimmed out as far away from a stall as possible. Grab those brakes and you would have a one step landing.

Isnt the 1.1 safe to use brakes with full trim?

Glad you’re ok! Nobody pointed that out: even a perfectly tuned motor can quit, anytime! It’s mandatory to always have a place to land within gliding reach.

Was there a reason you weren't able to grab your breaks and land slower?
@Daviation19775 ай бұрын
He couldn't use the brakes when fully trimmed out for speed. Only the tip steer can be used.

@@Daviation1977Gotcha. Makes sense. you got a hotter wing than me. I only have that limitation with the addition of speed bar.

Hey mate, thats unlucky... I had an engine out over water before, similar to yours with the spark plug popping out!!! I landed in water/ocean which was pretty crazy, I had a lifejacket installed on the paramotor so that saved the day. Heal up and keep the vids coming.
