They are easier to fly & they are amazing! You just sit down & hit the gas, aim straight & wheels up! Landing is a piece of cake, you never feel the weight on your shoulders while flying a trike. @@minyardmatt what I like is the potential flexibility. Suppose you wanted to fly a longer trip, or with a small duffel bag -- you could use the trike, and carry it in your lap while reclining back. Reclining in a trike would be more comfortable for a longer cross-country trip.

@@minyardmatt I'd like your informed opinion: Suppose you had a wheelbarrow frame with its single wheel, and you were pulling it behind you using your harness, with the paramotor mounted to that frame, sort of like how you had it mounted to that trike. What are the weight limits or weight recommendation on the trikes. What are your recommendations for wings for beginner trike pilots based on weight.
@minyardmatt5 жыл бұрын
Audie Carter trikes can be 20 Lbs up to 200 plus pounds, as for the pilot, there is no limit that I have ever heard of, usually we need to know the pilots weight & the weight of the trike he flies to choose a wing. Please send all your details to fly@paramotorlouisiana.com for an in detail answer with all the options for trikes. Thanks - quick version answer is a Gin Gliders Pegasus 2 like you see in this video in size 26-28-30 usually works, in the event of a very heavy trike +500 Lbs and up to 1000 Lbs you would move up to the Gin Condor which is a high performance heavy lifting wing designed for large trikes that want to have lots of lift & a very nice glide ratio.

With some customizing you can make it fit really easily, will it plug in right now, no... The Macfly frame resembles the fly products frame more than the pap for mounting a trike. Now THAT'S a trike, not these 500 lb POC I see elsewhere. Exactly what I was going to make myself, and still may. One thing, as an engineer I am not impressed with AT ALL is the motors in these things. They look to be totally unreliable, and have to be rebuilt after tens of hours of use. RIDICULOUS! I think I will look into Rotax or someone else that actually builds aircraft engines that WORK! Hopefully someone makes one small enough. We'll see. Man, your low wind foot launches are the NUTS compared to most I see! ;-)
@minyardmatt5 жыл бұрын
This is a PPG Trike, Goodluck making one as good as this, most people try & fail.. Over 20 years of building trikes i think they know whats best. Also our motor are much more reliable than you imagine, if you had one you would know how they are. Come visit us and see how many old motor we have that we still use daily.
@MrJdsenior5 жыл бұрын
@@minyardmatt Cool. Yes, true, I have no personal experience, just all the videos I seen with titles like 10 hours needs major maintenance, 15 hours, self destructed, and SOO many I see flying on the vids with cracked exhaust, leaking case seams, etc. Obviously, I have no idea on how these were treated, but the trend doesn't look at all good. And the real question to me is not how many "old motors" you have operating, but what is the mean time between major maintenance or failure, those are the numbers I care about. How many do you have that have flown say, 1000-2000 hours with NOTHING but routine maintenance (plugs, oil, filters, and some light maintenance, basically, not pistons, jugs, rods, bearings, clutches, seals, etc.) because that is what is expected of normal aircraft engines. I expect the answer is roughly none, but let me know. You can basically keep an engine of this design running almost forever, as you well know, but I mean original pistons, crank, rings, gaskets, bearings, clutch, etc.), and NO unintended non-operator caused engine stops or power losses in flight. I realize you have more degree of safety in a paramotor with an engine out than a normal aircraft, hell, just the landing speed difference makes it immense, but I STILL want an engine that will run and run and run, without problems like an engine should, in your aircraft, or your good ole Toyota (typically 2-3 hundred K miles). Again, great video.

John Rivera I’m afraid the most important piece to a trike flight is a very strong stuff cage, you have to be careful using a trike with a flexible cage you may damage something, this aluminum cage Paramotors usually need a crossbar or some extra support to fly with trikes, yes it can be done but be careful with that frame on your trike. In this video the frame is very strong & has a titanium cage to keep it very stiff, I weight 155#s, this trike is 30 or 35 pounds I believe with the large tires I think it’s 35 & my motor is also about 50 pounds with the amount of fuel I had in the tank. Approximately 240 pounds all up in this video. I have trikes available that can be modified to fit on every Paramotor, however if you are going to use your own frame you need to be sure that your cage does not touch the prop. If your prop can strike your cage by hand easily it is not strong enough.
@dwanehudson69045 жыл бұрын

Dwane Hudson this is not a home made trike, it’s available from P.AP. Which we keep in stock & sell this trike for $2,100 shipped to you. Al Trent I’m also 215 and I’ve flown the 80. It’ll depend more on the wing selection.

That atom 80 has lifted about 350 pounds with me during a tandem. I think can do about 400 before it’s maxed out & not climbing, at sea level of course! Not going to work well at altitude with a heavy load. You want a moster 185 for the heavy loads!

lol. he actually pissed on my ozone mojo that was still in the bag. so yeah, he's an indiscriminate pisser. He pissed on everything. Matt had no Idea what was going on in the back ground. I was on piss patrol with the water bottle and was trying clean the wing for him b4 it dried. wet gins still fly....
