I know the Atom 80 is a good motor but its for someone that weighs less than 170lbs. He needs to be on a moster 185 for sure if he wants to get off the ground faster
@KevinhPPG2 ай бұрын
Not to worried about getting off the ground faster at this point in my training. The Moster 185 will come in time. I’m using the Atom 80 to work on the basics.

I came to make that same comment.

Subscribed to you Kevin - I'm a UK veteran and great to see you get in the air, it's a life changer ! - I'm only on my third flight too, my launches are not pretty at the moment, but slowly getting there ! 🤜

It’s changed my life tremendously. I subscribed to you as well. Hope to fly again in a couple weeks. My landings are what I’m having issues with.

Not sure why an instructor would put a 220lb person on an atom 80..
@user-rf6pq9nd4t2 ай бұрын
he does that because if he can use an atom 80 then everyone else should be able to never less if its right or not
@KevinhPPG2 ай бұрын
My choice to be on the Atom 80. It helps to work on the basic mechanics of getting off the ground.

if it's he's 3 flight why is he not on coms ? 200+ pounds 80 cc ? no disrespect just asking
@KevinhPPG2 ай бұрын
No disrespect taken. For one It was my choice to not be on comms. My training hasn't been a whole steady 7-10 days like most. It's been on going for several months (weather and timenoermiting)so I have a pretty good working knowledge on how it works. Basically using the 80cc engine helps with the learning process. Not as heavy no torque. Start smaller get a basic understanding and work your way up.

hmm. with all your knowledge why put this chap with a 80cc engine? he should of used a moster 185.... do your sums . live and learn. or learn and live. geez then u got that windsock? swinging.has the student got any coms.....??? cowboys

@@KevinhPPG sorry but i sorta agree with Tony there.. it seems like u couldnt get lift fast enough and then u got a little frustrated and let off the power for a sec.. but ya man.. eventually i also recommend.. a moster 185 or i fly a 3 blade skymax 150 and the power is amazing. Keep up the great work man. Practice makes perfect.

@@rupman27isback I appreciate the feedback, I'm enjoying the journey and will have a bigger engine soon.

@PPG Keep the 80 and get another larger motor too. The 80 is magic in every way, except power. At my weight on foot of 125lbs, I enjoyed the atom, but its lack of climb rate was a danger for my flying locale and style. I miss my 80 but I enjoy my larger. The 80 helps for students because of its linear power and lack of it. Most will find that they want more power, within a dozen flights. I'd advise against starting a turn on an 80, after having to run so far, while so low to the ground. Luckily, you didnt heed the voice telling you to do so(@5:12), as soon as it was said. Height is your friend, get on up there above the trees and powerlines a tiny bit. Thanks for sharing your journey, blue skies!

Definitely agree. I started on an atom 80 at 190lbs and it was just able to get me off the ground. I upgraded after about 45 flights. Even for new students I don't think anyone over 200 should be on an atom80. I wish vito would make like a 120cc engine. 80 is so small, but IMO the moster can be a bit intimidating for new students. I had the option of which one I wanted to use and chose the atom because of the weight difference, I was a bit out of shape at the time.. I still am, but was a bit more then :P
