Actually; guns where VERY unprecise in this era; and took forever to reload; so after a first volley; swords, axes and bayonets where the main weapon of a soldier... specially chivallry; witch would be sent to the weakest point of a formation with sabers or even lances to charge and breakthe infantry lines... so swords where very poppular... ...not a medieval longsword like this; but well; he is old fashioned XD

There's a lot to love about this film. Although some of the plot is a bit silly, the film was meant to be tongue in cheek. Great visuals, acting, music and production design.

Most of those revolutionary soldiers were real sports... I mean, not only did they ditched their muskets for sabers after lowering the horse, but they also attacked the horseman one by one in order not to get unfair number advantage. Shame the last two guys ruined the beauty of fair duel by the common sense and cowardly self-preserving behavior... not really gentleman-like, let me tell you.
