Small horror movies by unknown directors with unknown cast do not get Oscar nods. To me Scott delivered the best performance of the year, male or female, but ir won't matter as she did that in the "wrong" movie. This woman deserves an Oscar win, not only a nomination, but Oscars are not based on merit. Another actress whose performance will not get any official recognition is Nell Tiger Free who was brilliant in the First Omen and she deserves an Oscar nod. Of course she will not get it.

Toni Collette was awesome in Hereditary and wasn't even nominated - the performances of the lead actresses in both Smile movies is a major factor in the success. Great performances in horror films are so important

Honestly one of the most chilling, most horrifying movies I’ve seen all year. Not only its horror aspect, but the way they develop the story is just so intriguing. I love idea of how the entity made Skye suffer even more than Rose in the first movie, manipulating her mind in ways I didn’t even expect. If this isn’t Oscar nominated, then that’s just silly because this movie deserves its recognition. ✨

​@@appanoodles ok, after thinking it over, i'll bump it up to an 8, and i’m content with that. some parts of the movie felt really cheesy and goofy, which took away from the horror vibe for me. the scene where she’s being mobbed by her dance crew, for example-I couldn’t stop laughing through the whole thing. yeah, the goofiness in certain parts is what brought the score down for me. but her acting was so freaking captivating and enthralling. i would put her and that girl from pearl as the best horror movie acting i've seen in a very long time.
