I like the conversation in the comments abot Tate and Carter. And the legacy and who will get it. But it reminded me that Tate killed the snake. Carter got one in a box from John Dutton. Usually it's the opposite. Tate gets it and Carter earns it. But here, in the series, Tate earned it. The snake's tail. The symbolism of that 'fight'. I feel that says a lot about his claim to his inheritance and legacy, I guess. Would love see how they are written in season 5, both Tate and Carter.

Sorry but some of the dialogue that the kids on this show have is so cringey and stupid 😂 even the way the actors deliver the lines you can tell they don’t even understand why they are saying it. Don’t know if Sheridan is just really shit at writing child characters or something, but sometimes I just shake my head thinking no kid would ever say that 😂

Over the episodes things were said that Yellowstone was Tates legacy. Season 4 brought Carter. Carter has the opportunity to be exactly like Rip. I question if Monica will allow Tate to learn the ranch. Kayce will do whatever Monica wants. Beth & Rip already showing Carter how to tend to it. I'll be watching season 5. Curious to see which boy the legacy leans to.

Yes, he had experienced great trauma as a result of the attack on the family but he had had such a meaningful relationship with John in the past. Tate isn't going to run the ranch some day. He's too much a product of his mother. Monica's reaction to Tate shooting that man was more traumatizing than the shooting itself. Monica sheltering and coddling him causing him to hide under the bed and carrying on was because of her self-righteous opinions. Instead of reassuring him that he did the right thing under the circumstances. She fed into his fear with her own. It took Kayce to force him from under the bed, and had him face what he had to do in order to save him and his mother's lives. Monica is hindering Tate as far as his future at Yellowstone. And I'm not saying that's the best place for Tate, it may or may not be. But Monica isnt helping him as far as being the next generation to run Yellowstone.
