The Armed Forces of the Philippines renders military honours for the last time to its late Commander-in-Chief, President Benigno S. Aquino III, at the Manila Memorial Park. The presidential anthem, "Parangal sa Pangulo", is played as the urn carrying the late president's ashes is brought towards the AFP hearse. The anthem was notably composed during the Aquino presidency by Lieutenant Colonel Xavier Celestial of the Philippine Army and first played in honor of President Aquino in 2011.

@sboudreaux27 It just so sad that he probably left thinking whether people would still appreciate all he did when he's gone. There's a reason why "Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako" became one of his favourite songs in the final years of his life.

@sboudreaux27 Yes I think the fact that he died so suddenly contributed to that decision. Plus the need to accommodate his remains at his parents' resting place.

@sboudreaux27 Interesting question. I don't think so, I think they just moved around the grave markers. I remember when Cory was buried, it was to the left of Ninoy's grave. Not to be grim here, but with the time that has passed since Ninoy's passing, it's fair to say that there was more space on his side (disintegration of coffin, etc), that's why PNoy was buried on the right. So actually PNoy was buried beside his father, even if the grave markers would indicate otherwise.

Indeed! PNoy was a history buff and left a wonderful legacy when it comes to music for ceremonies involving the presidency. Plus the PCDSPO and its passion for sharing history was way ahead of its time! Genuine public service.
