Thanks for posting this. Honestly, people have no clue how hard it can be to get around (for clarity, I'm NOT dealing with an SCI, I have a form of dysautonomia that results in weakness, fatigue, dizziness, tachycardia, dyspnea, hypoxia, syncope etc as well as chronic, severe pain, and I have problems with paraesthesia, skin numbness and tingling etc as well as gastro and urological issues - so I identify with a lot of the day-to-day problems that you have). I guess the problem that I have personally is that I don't have the strength to really lift myself up to shuffle well, and I always end up with effective friction burns on my buttocks and thighs when I have to scoot, even when using a transfer board. and honestly, if I end up on the floor, I can't get myself up again. It's so frustrating but my legs just can't bear that much weight. and I end up with scrapes and bruises constantly, or pain in my wrists, thumbs, fingers etc. And then people wonder why I don't get out and do more things when even sitting upright for a few minutes means I either reach the point where I pass out, vomit or both!

I became a paraplegic due to a car crash. I think there are a lot of spinal cord injury people that became injured due to diving/jumping in water that wasn't deep enough for them.

sunny cal I Broke my neck in a swimming pool. Luckily , I still have use of all of my limbs. I did it in my early college years , I did not have insurance . So I have lived with this injury most of my adult life .

Yeah and I'm one of the many..but in my care even if I have wheelchair I can't use.I have t12 related to L5 but never under go surgery coz we don't have money for surgery.. 6years laying in my bed can't even seat.

i have a question, i in no way mean to come off as insensitive but ive been asking myself this question all day. when wearing tight bottoms such as leggings or jeans how do you put them on ? sounds stupid but i cannot seem to wrap my head around it .i use my leg to push my foot through the leg hole but for people who have limited or no use of their leg muscles how does that work? i hope im not coming off as rude or asking something too personal im just curious.

Shrinking Charlotte I wear small heels! And yes I have to be careful of skirts and dresses because they end up super short on me sat down. Yup I transfer onto the seat when I get my hair done :)
