58:37 If your son is having a seizure and you only have 15 minutes to save his life, I would only care about the car keys and rushing him to the hospital. Also consider the fact that Mr. Park does not have any clue on what is going on like the audience does. Not trying to take sides, just trying to fairly assess the situation

Most of Bong's movies are a critique of capitalism The semi-basement are the lower class..the basement couple are the poor....the lower class and poor fighting for the chance to serve the rich

The movie is clearly a commentary on class and the class divide. The parasite could be the poor family working their way into the rich family's house, but the parasite could also be the wealthy family who survive on the service of the less wealthy. Who is the parasite? Is it the man living in the basement? Is it the family weeding their way into the household? Is it the wealthy family relying on the people who suffer more due to their standing in society and are only doing what they're doing due to their circumstances? The wife saying she doesn't care about qualifications vs the guy who faked them to get somewhere, the rain that made the wealthy family feel blessed but destroyed the home of the poor family. The poor family living in an apartment literally underground (parallel to the bunker) whilst the wealthy family lives high up. The wealthy family's kid learning morse code in the scouts for fun whilst the poor characters use it almost for actual survival. Even the fact that their toilet is the highest point in their home is significant. The list goes on and on and I would highly recommend watching a video that picks it apart. Bong Joon-ho is a master of cinema and I recommend watching the Parasite 2019 oscar wins in order because he genuinely believes he was only gonna win the first one so he keeps being more and more surprised as the awards keep coming. One of my favourite scenes in this movie is when the son is coaching the dad with his lines. Song Kang-ho who plays the poor dad is as A-list as you can get in South Korea, he's been in Bong Joon-ho movies since the director started out, he is a very beloved veteran actor there. Choi Woo-sik who plays his son is a relative newbie actor, especially when it comes to big movies like this, it's his first huge part under a big director. It'd be like having a scene where a relatively new actor in the west was coaching a Tom Hanks character. So the scene where the son is coaching the dad in his lines and how to act is almost a kind of joke that Korean viewers would find pretty amusing. Also, a clever thing about this movie is there is almost never a scene where the rich and poor families aren't divided by some kind of line, whether that be lines between the glass of the windows, pillars in the house, upstairs and downstairs moments, under the table above the table, a higher street vs a lower street, fridge door line, front of the car back of the car etc etc. There is always some kind of divide between them when they're together.
