This movie is brilliant. I understand that people who are used to watching Hollywood films find this a bit odd at first - because, as you said, you don't know who to root for. That is the thing: foreign movies are built differently. Hollywood films have certain tropes, and forms, and you kinda know where the plot is going. This needs to be watched with the open mind, forgetting the "movie rules". It really opens up that way. Interesting fact: the moment when the doorbell rings is exactly in the middle of the movie. That's literally the turning point, and after that it all really goes downhill. That twist was so unexpected, and quite literally, there are simply no good or bad guys here. They all are flawed, struggling and everybody just looking to gain - the rich and the poor. And for the record; the son was never going to pay off that debt they got, so the ending was really just a dream.

Exactly why I think this movie is a masterpiece that never leaves me for very long. It's something I've never seen or experienced before....speaking as an older American rookie. Who knew?

When i first watched this movie, i couldn’t stop thinking about it for a week. It won the Oscar for Best Picture that year and it was well deserved in my opinion 💙 It’s the first ever foreign film to win in that category so it made history 😊 Love your reactions Tavare! Keep up the great work!

19:18 when the architect moved out, he left the furniture and when the rich moved in, they didn’t assume anything suspicious

Parasyte is a live action adaptation based off the anime of the same name. But, Parasite is the oscar award winning Korean masterpiece by Bong Joon-Ho - which is what you watched. Thanks to this movie, Korea has made progress and is so close to making those underground apartments illegal because they really are the worst conditions.

What do you mean Korea has developed because of this movie? Even before this movie, Korea was ranked 10th in the world economy

This movie takes multiple viewings to get all the metaphors lol. Its funny cuz the main character says the word metaphor like 4 times throughout the movie but most people gloss over that. Its full of metaphors and subtle messages, mostly about class. Well written, well shot, well edited, well paced, everything was dileraberate and not wasted. Film students literally study this movie along with classic titles because it absolutely is profound.

Some messages are hard for Americans to grasp because the delivery is tailored to Korean perspectives. But the message is still universal
