And we finally got to talk about CV! So I feel pretty similarly to how you do with finding the game annoying but also seeing a lot of potential on it. I would've been pretty happy if this got a remake over RE4 since it is like the one game in the franchise that it's not only weirdly paced but also screws you over several times in regards to preparing you for certain situations like the plane or what happens with Claire towards the end of the game so seeing stuff like that smoothed out would be quite satisfying. In terms of characters obviously Chris and Claire remain pretty much the same and Wesker gives us the first full taste of what his new attitude will be after his pathetic attitude in the OG Resident Evil ("Chris stop it :c"). In regards to the new characters I'm not crazy about them but Alfred can be funny on how far gone he is and I'd be into getting a deeper dive into his psyche on a possible remake same with Alexia and her perception of herself and the world. As for Steve... Well, it's pretty unavoidable to talk about how bad he is, I swear every time I watch a new lp of CV I find more things to dislike about him from his cockiness to him reloading his new automatic weapons basically on Claire's face, him losing his cool and wasting all his precious ammo doing dumb shit, him trying to kiss Claire while she was asleep... In general, I don't like him and I don't think "He's 17, he's a child" can justify several of these things. Finally all I will mention is that Alexia's battle themes are really great and I really like the design of the Bandersnatch. At least this game had some interesting concepts and connects with the game though I really wish we would've gotten more info on Edward Ashford's sudden death and feus with Spencer.

As some people have dubbed me as the person who understands Claire Redfield better than anyone else for some reason, I feel I have to show up in the videos. Lol This game did some thing with Claire that I have not seen any other game ever do with a female protagonist and a recurring one at that Did you know, this game got referenced at least 21 times in the future, every single time that Claire Redfield appeared in our canonical story after this game? To give this comment as short as possible, let me ask if you know what that unique feature is about Claire that was seen in this game do you know the answer? What did this game do with Claire that makes her the most unique protagonist at least in this Series?
@WheeledHamster8 ай бұрын
They gave her a believable personality, she becomes like a sister figure, she's caring, her arc with Steve is the best character development that we've never seen before or after again. The idiots calling it cringe doesn't understand shit. He shot his own dad to save Claire and even sacrifices himself.
@TheBengalDragon8 ай бұрын
@@WheeledHamster First of all, thanks for the reply. Really appreciate it. Please keep an open mind about the following, but your response is a bit inaccurate. The evidence for 2 things I'm about to say is OVERWHELMING, to the point that the onus is now on anyone who claims otherwise to proove the validity of their claims. 1. By the end, Claire does indeed develop romantic feelings for Steve. The body language, music and vocal tone that indicates these intimate feelings towards Steve from claire is also there, but you need to know where to look for it. It's right after Steve saves claire's life for the 6th and final time. in CVX, Claire NEVER treats Steve like a younger brother (as Alyson Court herself seems to mistakenly believe). She treats Steve like a younger brother in DSC, but DSC is not canon. The TRAGEDY is that Claire didn't know Steve felt that way about her too, until the last moment of his life. For more proof, please watch my CVX vs DSC video and skip to the chapter "Proof that Claire loved Steve too in CVX." I invite you to refute that and provide a viable alternate explanation if you disagree. 2. Because of losing Steve, Claire NEVER comes to terms with Steve's death. And this is the answer to the question. CVX is THE ONLY game I have seen where a recurring female protagonist starts the game mentally very tough, but ends the game mentally BROKEN! CVX told the female protagonist character arc BACKWARDS! As mentioned, the evidence for this (especially #2) is very overwhelming. Let me know what you think.

I played CV as a kid and remember getting blocked on the plane boss but i feel the game gets way too much hate for this. Even as a 8 year old i was able to overcome this challenge with sheer willpower, whilst many people who wasted ammo (not a smart move for any RE fan) was upset they had used their grenades and explosive bowgun on other targets. The boss is even killable with only knife but maybe not for a kid. Still, i can see why the boss being so tough puts people off but it is sad to see it get so much hate, arguably for this one moment which is really just a example of survival horror being good and actually tough, i see many reviewers zone in on this moment and throw some lesser points in to try to make their point more "solid" when mostly, they just didn't wanna admit the boss wasn't easy. The final boss (Alexia's final form) was tough for me but i literally jumped screaming when i beat it. I personally love CV(x included) - The game is longer compared to previous entries which is fun, sure its a fixed story like 3 without 2 character stories to chose from but i like a longer single route over 2 identical routes which branch differently but do the same thing. I also hold a special place for this game as its the last RE game the series really has, at least, with that classic style. Unpopular opinion but 4 ruined the series by taking it into new waters, it became a action game, zombies became what is effectively people in a cult (parasite sure but they was people on the surface who worked and spoke) and the whole plot was silly, yet the game is seen as legendary, of course I'm one of only few who dislike where it took the series but i enjoyed this system much more, inventory management, save management, ammo management (aka survival horror) was all parts of the series, back tracking for keys and locked doors, exploring a fixed map going back and fourth as you learn your way, all was RE traits thrown away, so yeah i see CV as a final goodbye to the franchise for me and it was mostly well done. Sure the Ashford plot is... different but i didn't hate it, it's pretty funny at times and does expand the series lore as the Ashfords are always a part of the founding families. I also loved the dramatic "heart beat" and slow door opening (mentioned in the video) added to some parts when exploring dodgy secret doors or following a cutscene or boss - really makes it tense for the first time, some doors hold threats and others its just a troll. I think CV is mostly underrated by people who between getting stuck on a boss they didn't prepare for and people who was playing 4 and enjoying roundhouse kicking every enemy in sight, just gets a bad rep for people playing it later. For it's time it was gold and for them who enjoy the classic style, still holds up to this day. just remember Grenades aren't to be wasted on simple enemies and explosive bowgun if to be saved and you will be fine, it's arguably one of the easiest games if you play it as a survival horror should be whilst being one of the hardest if you try to kill every enemy which isn't the idea of RE or most survival horror.

To answer your question, in the initial box art, Claire's picture is in the foreground and chris's one is in the background because Capcom is telling you, the main focus of this game's STORY is Claire. Further evidence of this is that in one of the box cover arts of Code Veronica X for the PS2, Claire's picture takes up the entire cover, where her head doesn't fit fully in the shot. . The Japanese translation for "you'll only slow me down" is actually "women have their legs tied together anyways" in the Japanese version of this game. This further shows that Steve NEVER flirts with Claire, coz you don't insult the person who you're flirting with... for anyone still wondering. RECVX in ALL its itteration sold only 3 million copies. Looking back, it is one of the WORST selling RE games when you consider the main games. As for the awkwardness of the story... that's another thing I discovered. The problem was the EXECUTION of what was actually intended to be Part 1 of at least a sequel or a trilogy. But given the fact that RE fans LAUGHED at this game, which was probably Alyson's BEST voice acting, Capcom probably decided to first run damage control (as SO MANY PEOPLE missed the point of CVX's story) and then ignores it completely to this day, except for Code Veronica references you see as latest as in Death Island. And finally, Code Veronica Survivor 2 is not a reimagining, it's the closest you get to a follow up to CVX, telling you what happened immediately after CVX, ESPECIALLY to Claire. The proof of this is the VERY FIRST PIECE OF TEXT in the game. TRUST ME! My friend, I have done a lot of discoveries that no one else has done before me on KZbin. So I know what I'm talking about my friend. You need to know what to look for to understand Claire Redfield and why CVX is the most important event in her life. Let me know what you think. Hope that clarifies some confusion and doubts.
@JG004-kk1do7 ай бұрын
About your statement on Alyson’s acting, I’d say her best acting was in degeneration and darkside chronicles. It’s still very good in CV though as she was able to hide her accent and I think she was one of the only cast members to do that too.
@TheBengalDragon7 ай бұрын
@@JG004-kk1do Aah JG004... always good to see you my friend, how've you been? As for Alyson's acting, I would disagree. I show that the fact that Alyson hid her accent in CVX tells you that Alyson took this role as seriously as Tom Hardy took Eddie Brock in the VENOM movie. I do like her acting in Degeneration, as her voice acting tells you of Claire's mental state of being more cynical (something that happens after severe emotional trauma). However, what's lacking in Degeneration is Claire's emotional range in voice acting. Believe it or not, crying scenes are not as easy as it may seem. In Degeneration, where she should've been crying (when she started to believe that the vaccine didn't make it to people because of her) she just sounded sleepy. Degeneration, we did get to hear Claire angry, so that's another positive. And Darkside Chronicles... come on buddy, Alyson didn't even TRY!She sounded more canadian than Bill Houston! This is important because Claire is not Canadian, she's probably from Missouri. Also, what I HATED was her attitude. Claire became excessively sarcastic and childish. I could not stand some of her awkward jokes in the CVX chapter. And... SELLING the severity of Steve's death on Claire's psyche through her voice acting was almost NON existent. Just look at when Claire says "you think everyone else is here to serve you don't you?" Not a single growl in her voice. This mutant lady took Claire's potential love interest away from her, and Claire acts like she's having a passive aggressive argument with her boyfriend? lol! Go back to CVX, when claire says "you have to make it, don't die on me!" Claire actually has a bit of a growl when she says die on me. Alyson paid attention to even this detail... meaning that she worked harder in CVX, and DSC was just another paycheck to her, and she had fun while doing it. Alyson brought DRAMA acting to CVX, something you see Troy Baker do in The Last Of Us. Alyson did that before Troy. The problem (as I mentioned before) is the execution of the overall product and concept, which was not in Alyson's control. In DSC, she brought video game level acting, which is a tier lower than drama acting. An indication of this is in the mocumentary "Elvis Meets Nixon" Alyson actually plays Prescilla Presley and there she also hid her Canadian raising accent. This is the only other time I saw her do it, showing you how dedicated she was in CVX compared to DSC. I hope you can now see exactly where I'm coming from and why I really don't like her DSC voice acting... BTW, I realized this later, but Stephanie Panisello also SOLD the severity of Steve's death on her psyche, in Infinite Darkness, and 4 TIMES in Death Island. Problem is, I can't find Stephanie on twitter, or else I would've told this to her directly.
@JG004-kk1do7 ай бұрын
@@TheBengalDragon Good to see you too, I'm fine thanks. Not quite sure what you meant by the Tom Hardy analogy but i think hiding her accent really showed she took the role seriously as most actors (especially the ones in CV) didn't normally do that at the time. She took it serious enough to bring drama to the role like you said in that section so that's probably what you meant. Also I like how you brought up the Canadian rise, I saw Mike Myers explain/demonstrate it though I haven't seen Elvis meets Nixon but I've heard a lot about it. I like what you said about degeneration too. I have heard crying scenes are difficult which is why actors who can cry on command are highly valued. That's actually how Lisa Jai got the role of Sherry in RE2. I can understand why they wouldn't do that as it was only a CGI movie made for fans but the performance we got was still really good. Yeah what you said about DSC was very accurate. Claire was a little to childish in that game and I agree with a lot of what you said. However that is more of a personality/writing issue, Alyson still gave a good performance for what it was even in terms of video game level acting (like the rest of the cast). Also like degeneration it was a smaller project being a rail shooter albeit a decent one so that might explain some of it's shortcomings but they still gave us a lot for a small project. Side note, Claire's look in DSC has got to be her best though most of her designs look good. Also the reason I like those two versions is because Alyson gave a more timeless performance. Not to slight CV but as good as it was you can kinda tell it's age, with degeneration and DSC not so much though they still could have done better in certain aspects as you've shown. I see were your coming from as I also have similar problems. Also the reason you can't find Stephanie on twitter is because her account got hacked a while back so she only has Instagram and twitch now. I was going to do something similar by writing her a letter but I didn't finish it as I'm not the best at longer form handwriting. I don't know what she'd think of it so I'd be careful how you word it but I recommend you message and maybe follow her, she's a really nice person so I wouldn't worry.
@TheBengalDragon7 ай бұрын
@@JG004-kk1do The part about Tom Hardy, I meant to bring up that Tom Hardy hid his british accent when playing Eddie Brock, because Eddie Brock is American. In the same way, Claire hid her Canadian raising accent for only CVX because Alyson knew Claire was from the American midwest, not from Canada (she's probably from close to illinois) Speaking of Lisa Jai, do you know what her twitter handle is? I really want to get in touch with her. I'm planning to start doing some interviews on my channel. 3 people I have in mind are Steven Scott, Lisa Jai and Alyson Court. I want to get Lisa Jai and Steven Scott done first, as Lisa did advocacy work for actors with disabilities, and Steven Scott is a legally blind pro wrestler. As for CVX aging, yeah, the game has aged, but I still think Alyson Court's and Michael Fipovich's voice acting holds up. The others though... it needs some work. In terms of looks, this is maybe a personal preference thing, but... CVX hands down. The MAIN reason for this is because in CVX, Claire looks like an adult AND the main protagonist. in DSC, Claire looks like more of an NPC... and... she looks kinda... childish. IG huh, ok I'll try and look for her in IG. I already followpeople on Twitter, and Alyson has responded to me from time to time... I'm planning to ask for an interview, once I finish and publish my video where I delve into the actual psychology of Claire's trauma, from a "classical conditioning' and "conditioned trauma response" perspective. BTW, have you heard that The evil Within 3 is probably not going to happen? :(
@JG004-kk1do7 ай бұрын
@@TheBengalDragon Yeah I assumed that much as I was writing though I figured he took the role seriously as he did it because his son liked venom. Hiding accents has become somewhat common now as more actors like Tom Holland are doing it. I don't know what her twitter is, I tried looking for a link on her KZbin channel but there wasn't one. She has done a lot of interviews so there must be some way to get in touch with her, maybe try Lisa Yamanaka. As for Alyson, I'm sure she'd like to interview you though I'd only stick to topics like RE psychology, some of her live action/voice work, and her voice directing work as recently she's made some questionable/controversial decisions with some of her past roles. Looking forward to your discussion on Claire with her though Yeah I agree Alyson's and Michael's performances aged decently though Id say some others aged fine too. Yeah I like most of Claire's designs (especially CVX) but I think DSC is the most popular amongst fans. She doesn't really look like an NPC though especially compared to the other characters in DSC but yes she does look a bit younger, though I wouldn't exactly say childish. I did hear Tango Gameworks got disbanded which is sad as TEW 2 was really fun, also Stephanie and some of the other new RE actors did facial capture in that game. I think it is still owned by Bethesda though. I also hear Shinji is starting his own studio caller Kamuy to train future game directors and to branch off of survival horror.

Besides RE0 or Survivor, Code Veronica definitely needs a remake. Imagine living in a timeline where Capcom remakes RE5 and completely skips CV. Don't get the team that did RE3 2020, get the RE2 2019 team to do it. RE4 2005 haters, "RE4 jumped the shark and turned RE into an action movie!" Meanwhile, you've got an intro cutscene ripped straight out of an action movie and Wesker doing Matrix stuff in CV. Probably the most bonkers plot of the early RE games too. As for CV, I prefer RE3 Nemesis 1999 to CV. None of the neat stuff RE3 Nemesis did on the PS1 were brought forward to CV.

The 'nazi war criminals' angle would explain why Alfred is such a wehraboo, with his gold lugers and nazi tank and all. But yeah, never really liked this one. The graphics may have been nice for the time, but they made the vast majority o the game grey, misty and washed out to show off the lighting engine... buuut the only light source you have is the weenie lighter, which you can't equip while holding a weapon. So the game just ends up looking dull and grey. It's also where the virus=superpowers BS started, what with Wesker just turning into fake-British neo for some reason. The story is just ridicuous, the villains pitiful and horribly stereotyped, and there's far too much bumbling around and backtracking to make it feel fun.
@JG004-kk1do7 ай бұрын
Those Lugers are actually modeled after Krieghoff Lugers which were indeed gifted to war criminals. The graphics do look grey but I think the dynamic camera made up for that. I wouldn’t say the story is ridiculous, it’s actually pretty deep but badly executed and the darkside chronicles did a lot of things better. Also weaker’s accent wasn’t British, I think it’s called a posh accent. I don’t know what you meant by the stereotypes, I know a lot of people get Alfred’s split personality disorder confused with something else but if you were talking about the German war criminal and other stuff I think a lot of that was due to the voice performances. Yeah the back tracking thing is fair though it doesn’t bother me as much.
