Ok ...this is strange but I allocate each of the cranial nerves a character of the Simpsons. For the motor nerves they are male characters and for sensory nerves they are female. If they are both sensory AND motor I allocate the nerve to a character of futurama. The function they do...I imagine the character carrying out that function...For example the olfactory nerve I have allocated to Homer which I invision him smelling a pie

My anatomy professor uses On Occasion, Our Trusty Truck Acts Funny- Very Good Vehicle Any How And Some Say Marry Money, But My Brother Believes (it's) Bad Business (to) Marry Money. I guess it's "believes" instead of "says" because now we know that the vestibulocochlear nerve has some motor function that involves equilibrium. I just watched all of the nervous system-related Crash Course episodes one after the other, and I will continue to do so in preparation for my lecture exam on Monday and my final exam on Wednesday. So, I wrote a dorky YA type story to help me keep these nerves straight. It helps me remember what the nerves do too. Please read! At ONE time the SMELL of my mom’s cooking would call me into the kitchen no matter where I was. (I.OLFACTORY) But as I set the table for the TWO of us, it doesn’t make a difference. The SIGHT of the perfectly prepared food, does little for me. (II. OPTIC) My mom says, “I wish you’d invite that Ryan-boy over here, then we could have THREE places again.” I ROLL MY EYES. (III. OCULOMOTOR) I LOOK DOWN at my hands as I LEVER the turkey onto the serving plate, “What would I do that FOUR?” (IV. TROCHLEA) We sit to eat. I take FIVE bites before my mom speaks again. “You could at least TRY.” I want to tell her that I am, but I just keep CHEWING. I TASTE NOTHING. She doesn’t know about Bobby, or that this is the last time I’ll be eating at her table for awhile. After dinner, I go to bed, and wait. (V. TRIGEMINAL) SIX hours later, Bobby comes to ABDUCT me. I don’t actually know Bobby’s name, he’s an alien. Abducting is what he does. "Bobby" is as close as I can come to his actual name. A bright light shines into my room and I know it’s time. I LOOK RIGHT AND LEFT up the street before opening my window. (VI. ABDUCENS) Leaving my mom like this gives me a bad TASTE IN MY MOUTH, but I can’t keep a huge SMILE off my FACE as I climb out the window and into a light so bright it MAKES MY EYES WATER. (VII. FACIAL) I pull my VEST over my face, I HEAR that helps the transfer. He will probably have food for me, I’ll just tell him I already EIGHT. (VIII. VESTIBULOCOCHLEAR) Finally I come to rest inside the sleek silver spaceship, THE NINE. Bobby takes me into his arms and kisses me, I’m glad I wore lip GLOSS. Kissing him leaves a sweet taste in the BACK OF MY MOUTH. I heard somewhere that it could be a bad thing, but I don’t care. We finally pull apart. “You ready to go?” he asks. I nod. (IX. GLOSSOPHARYNGEAL) We head to VAGUS. We’ve been planning this for TEN months. I know Bobby is an alien, but I can FEEL IN MY GUTS that this is the right thing to do, and this CALMS me. (X. VAGUS) “Hey, I have something for you.” He puts a beautiful NECKlace on me. It has ELEVEN gems on it. “I noticed you didn’t bring any ACCESSORIES with you. I thought you’d like it.” (XI. ACCESSORY) We got married on the stroke of MIDNIGHT. He finally kisses me the way I wanted him to, with TONGUE. We kissed so much my lip-GLOSS was long GONE. (XII. HYPOGLOSSAL)

The superior oblique (innervated by the Trochlear nerve), actually works to move the eye down and out. Looking cross-eyed is the medical test to see if the muscle is working, as it isolates the SO. If it hasn't already been mentioned, it should be "Finn" instead of "fin" in that context. I'm very grateful for Crash Course but as there are a lot of English learners who watch it, I worry when I see typos propagated. Spell check won't catch something like this so having several people proofread before taking an animation to "Golden Master" would be a good idea. Thanks for all you do, Crash Course Team (and supporters of Crash Course)!

Thank you. Very entertaining learning. Do you have anything on the Vagus Nerve?

Good news! You dwelled on how bad that mnemonic war for long enough that I remember it now!
