Shame they don't do one with just the LRF.

Hi Chris great video, I have some insights for anyone thinking of getting one as I will be returning mine, both of them, the major issue is the position of the IR splash after reticle zeroing, one has the splash dead Center just under the very edge of the display, with the other units splash to the top right middle of the display. Not being able to move an indication reticle to identify the splash position when operated or making the IR unit itself adjustable for daytime is dangerous, and could potentially lead to a mistaken ranged reading. This is a serious oversight that needs to be addressed with all units being immediately recalled, It is not safe to have no idea where your IR splash is trying to guess with a fire arm is not acceptable. These are the 2nd and third units I have had this week with the first having a faulty processor, and the replacement unit after first time use having some loose debris in side the tube that occasionally will pop on the screen and cause a dark patch when firing (thought it was a fly or muck at first 😂) All theses units have been the DS35 LRF 70 GEN - 2, personally I wouldn’t waste your money on them, have a look for an alternative is my advice. Unfortunately this oversight has rendered the pard units simply not fit for purpose, and don’t even get me started on the menus and instructions not the best, My ATN was never great but at least you could laser identify and adjust the IR splash indication 😂😂🤦,

I see a lot of comments on KZbin and social media from users who don't seem to understand the difference between the IR Illuminator and Laser rangefinder splash. I get the impression that the addition of Inclined Picatinny rails on rifles that don't really need it has further added to the misunderstanding of IR and LRF splash relative to zero position

Hi Chris, I understand the issues with the inclined rails seems to be all the rage at the moment, but I have had three Pards in-the past two weeks, none of them have been calibrated correctly, the IR splash on each on base mag with X and Y both set to 0 have all been in different places (high , mid right high, low left respectively). None of the IR indicator squares were even close to the IR splash, this resulting in entering in to the menu to adjust the position (that takes some finding I can tell you, I do have a video link on that by the way if you want it). Now I know you can adjust the direction of the IR flash but that voids your warranty. So not really an option, as mentioned first pard processor was faulty, replacement has floating debris inside and since today the focus ring has become so loose every time you fire it loses focus, then if you use the zoom, the IR flash disappears making an extra step before every shot and basically rendering the units a base mag only scope, yes I know there are quirks and get arounds but it’s just not good enough for a not far shy of a grand scope. The LRF needs to be adjustable, menu instructions need to be more intuitive with better guidance, and quality control needs to go up a lot, Ive had three and not one has been good with two of them failing on first use, now that can’t be a coincidence. Thanks for the videos look forward to the next one, @@chrisparkin431

Hi Chris, nice video. You do know you can focus the IR beam by pulling it forward and twisting it. There is also a video out on how to physically adjust the LRF beam. ATB Ian.

So basically no difference between Gen1 and Gen2 apart from an inferior led illuminator in Gen 2 but costing the same as a laser illuminator in Gen 1.

That seems to be the situation.. I had a gen 1...returned it...few "unpolished" aspects about it I didn't like and ballistics failed terribly on a 22rf profile E. Was glad to return it! A significant stepping stone to better nv scopes..ie..lrf and ballsitics

Nope, Bruce and I tested a loaner gen.2 DS35-70RF side-by-side with my own gen.1 last night and were pleasantly surprised to see Pard have clearly upgraded the sensor, as well as the LED IR illuminator. The gen.2 was clearer out to 200m looking at rabbits and worked well with both 850nm and 940nm using my external LED IR torch. Comparative video coming very soon to my own channel. Cheers. Russ

The LED illuminator is superior in Gen 2 as this generation from Pard has seen them provide an upgrade on the first gen.

Hi Chris during daylight the lrf beam is not visible,how can you measure the distance accurately , the yellow rectangular + is not always coincides with the lrf beam as the lrf beam moves to different places depending on distance.
@chrisparkin431
@chrisparkin431 11 ай бұрын
Watch the video, you can adjust the yellow crosshair at night when it is visible
@abushaalaswayib1979
@abushaalaswayib1979 11 ай бұрын
Chris I know all that but what I meant you can adjust the yellow crosshair to be in the centre of the lrf beam at a certain distance but when you measure different distance you will find the lrf beam has moved above or below the yellow crosshair . that is no problem at night because you can ignore the yellow crosshair and use the visible lrf beam wherever it is but at daylight you cannot see the lrf beam and you have to rely on the yellow crosshair which could be way out of lrf beam.

@@abushaalaswayib1979 you have to accept that like many non prismatic optical devices, the laser source and 'tube' you are looking through are not on the same axis and there will always be an angular error to compensate for. The further you shoot, the less noticeable this is if parallel but at close range, it has to be factored in. There is a lot of logic to maintaining them both parallel so they are always separated by the same gap. I'm assuming you are concentrating on the issue with airguns at close range?
