PARD DS35 Overview

Hi, this looks like the future for me. I have used the Pard 008 p L.R.F. for pest control for over a year now and love it. Nearly upgraded to the Pard 008 s L.R.F. but after seeing this new model I have ordered a DS 35 LRF 940 from the Pard website and am eagerly awaiting it's arrival. Very impressed by the upgrades and thanks for a great review from Cornwall. UK.

why do you feel this is better than 008slrf? looking at spec .008 seems better (literally the zoom was the only thing) and was thinking of buying it, then this, now, i am so confuse..why did they make 2 scope that has almost all same spec, and exactly same price.. oh and another reason why i like .008s more is because of the form factor, zoom also seem better on the 008, i have .008p and love the fact that it is small, unlike my ATN 4k. so wanted to know what u saw here that changed your mind?

Oh it sure does - just working on the night video at moment - been heavy rain and floods here - managed to get out last night - it’s 500 plus in video

Is the model without lrf is worth to buy in your opinion?

We use the ballistics all the time at night - it certainly extends our hunting abilities - we range in day with our normal scopes to use ballistics - it’s like the Burris eliminator and swaro DS etc except also works at night It’s certainly worth it if you will shoot a distance or use a calibre that will benefit from it (subs) - on a flat shooting 243 etc and you only shoot to say 200 less so

so basically same features as .008s except .008s has more zoom, since u have seen both i am assuming, does the focus of the ds35 eye thingy(hold in shield) make it better than the .008s? is it worth the lost in zoom?(5.6x vs 6.5x) are the screen better or are they same screen? Software? build quality?as both are the same price here in the US. its hard to decide, and having the 800p i tend to pull for the older form than the scope like new form of the ds, but if the ds is clearly the better one, i will go with that route. any comparison input would be appreciated. thx

Standby by as I’m doing a side by side with the 008 6.5 and the ds35 video starting tomorrow (its just been raining here so much that I cant get on farm) - will take a day or so as will do film at night too - I’ve used the S since it was released a lot - here they are priced different as our 008 S stock came in when the exchange rate was better

My ds35 has a very grainy image while looking thru the scope. How can i clear that image?

I really wouldn’t know without seeing a image - can be environment - fog etc, stuff on lens, IR lens pulled too far out and you see the laser - 940 is grainer than 850 - have a side by side video on that - best to talk to who you got the unit off

AAAAAGGGGHHHH! I like PARD and have owned several (inc.0800LRF) and still use a 700V on a regular basis. My issue with PARD is the fact that they keep putting a high base mag on their dedicated NV kit and it's TOO MUCH. Us ctr. fire lot want a base mag of no more than 3.5 for night use, any more than this and your FOV is too narrow for speedy acquisition of targets such as foxes etc. I got rid of my 0800LRF because the base mag was 6.5 (this was the only reason)! Most of the lads I know all have the same complaint and it's why we use the 12mm 007 rather than the 16mm version. If PARD offered this new scope in say X 3 and X 5.6 base mag options, I'd be buying one. 99% of night shooting is within 250 meters and this is why the lower base mag is the clear winner... this is why Wraith, Pulsar and all the others all have a lower base mag. Come on PARD .... wake up and get in the game, it's you one big failing... I'm a big PARD fan and it's always killed me that they just won't or can't produce what so many of us want.

Hi - this one is the 70mm 5.6 version, they will shortly release the 50mm 4x version (008 S is similar with 4.5 and 6.5x versions) - one thing I’ve noticed with this scope and its more natural eye relief is that close shots are easier due to both eyes aligning

@Owl Optics and Outdoors Hi pal, good old KZbin decided to notify me of your comment after two months! Quick acquisition when night shooting is all about FOV. 3.5 base mag is the max starting point, anything more is detrimental. If they sort it out, and do a 3-12 version they will increase their sales. I'd put money on it.

Sure do - the eye relief and focus free are great additions - have used the 008s since it was introduced and those are a big step up - soon as it stops raining here will film at night and go for a hunt

@@owlopticsandoutdoors Great to hear. I want to upgrade from my NV008P LRF but I'd like a 940nm IR and I'm not sure when they would be released with them. Is the LRF splash adjustable like the IR?, because my NV008P is almost off the screen and I tried adjusting it to more centre but the screws are too hard on the neoprene seal to turn.

That will be a huge step up for you - 940nm just being released - never seem a laser too far off in our lots - new ones incl S diff design too

@@owlopticsandoutdoors Great. The first batch are arriving in a couple of weeks in Oz. But they will 850nm I'm told. I like the fact the reticle stays in the centre. Shims were a PITA.

Hi - no its not possible to remove, its not in the way anymore than a normal scope itself for catching stuff under between the barrel - the rangefinder is useful in the day for the ballistics as well (Huge benefit there) and Night scopes without built in IR are just silly
