Tijuana is actually home to Caesar salads. They are named after their creator, a restaurant owner from San Diego who opened restaurants in Tijuana during prohibition time so he could sell booze too. Story is, after an extreme rush of business in a short time the restaurant was down to very few ingredients and what was created to serve to guests was what became the Caesar salad. I too assumed it was of Italian origin but no sir.
