When our son was two years old, he went through the "tantrum stage". I got a rug and put it in the living room and would pick him up and place him on the rug, telling him that was the place to have a tantrum. We were in Wal-Mart one day and he was doing the "legs going limber, crying tantrum" while we were checking out. I told him we did not have his rug, so that wasn't the time or place to have his tantrum. He would have to wait until we got home to his rug. He stopped immediately and didn't have another tantrum like that ever! If only I had tried that with his big sister, except her "tantrums" were really short-lived.

As someone who worked many years with preschool children (plus have my own kids), Susan and Sarah are 100% about consistency. Toddler age children have to be redirected. Repetition is key to having them learn.

I loved this video..oh how I miss shopping with my parents. Lost daddy in 2016. He was my shopping buddy.. he loved to shop..we would go to Big Lots..TJ...Ross..thrift stores.. sitting now next to moms hospital bed in our home. Just fed her oatmeal..watching you with your parents makes me so happy...and brings tears to my eyes as remember the good days. Heaven gets sweeter each day. Blessings to your family. ❤

This cracked me up when you talked about the egg. Our eldest, now in his 50s, was a very advanced inquisitive kid. I will never forget how he had asked us questions about the egg. Later, in the middle of the grocery store, all of a sudden, he came out with (in a loud voice), "But Mom, what do you do to keep the sperm from fertilizing the egg?" Redfaced, I quickly told him we would talk about it in private when we got home. Great questions here today and great advice too.

When I started my journey to a panty I bought 5 extra things every shopping trip. Some weeks it was 5 cans. On good weeks I would buy meat to go in the freezer. As of March when I did my inventory on my pantry,freezer, and my pressure canned food. I now have more then 557 days of meals. It took me about a 1 1/2years. Slow and steady wins the race.

I loved this! In fact, I stopped it several times and took my ear buds out so I could play it for my husband. You see, we are visiting our son's family in Alaska that have 2 little wild and unruly boys. SOOO different from my daughter's family with 2 little ones in Utah. I live an hour away from a Walmart or any kind of large grocery store, so that’s exactly what I do as well. When I buy something new, I buy two of them and then put it on my grocery list when I use one that way I never run out, and don’t have to make the quick panic trips to a convenience store to buy some thing I need for cooking.

Another great shopping tip for filling the pantry is to always get the buy one/bet one deals on anything you know you use, and buy extra when your staples are on sale. I do this with jar, can, and frozen goods. For example, when the family pack of organic fruit I like goes on sale, I buy 2 and have smoothie fruit for six months. It might seem expensive at first as a front-end investment, but it is more economical in the long run, and healthier than ice cream or frozen desserts. Buy by the ounce price, not package price.
