According to new figures released by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the charity, Reunite, the number of parental child abduction and custody cases has more than doubled over the last decade. This film, 'Caught in the middle', tells the story of Rebecca, a fictional case study of a child involved in a parental abduction case. It aims to highlight the issues and encourage parents to think of the consequences before doing something that could do lasting damage to the children and families involved.

My wife ran away with my 6 weeks old daughter to japan. I could relate to this guy. I have been through depression and anxiety all throughout the year.

A child 'belongs' to both parents, not just the mother, and the child is likely to love both equally. The selfishness of this act is hard to comprehend.

try living with a mentally ill father of your child that abuses me and our 7 year old, someone who extracted money from my life savings through bullying, no maintenance. without family, without me knowing the local language. This is a life of hell, but I stick to the rules as we go under (and our childs life is damaged)

Like you saw, the man really felt like he belonged and should do his share?

I have just realised that my wife has no intentions in returning back to the UK with my 15 yo daughter from Chile. I am desperate,,, my daughter had to finish her school this year, here in the UK.

Do you know why *she* could get away with it? it is because *she* is a woman. Now turn the tables round, and let's see if *he* acted in this way. The police would have him in cuffs in no time flat. The stark reality: this country is open game for women to do what they want, when they want, and have all the tools of an oppressive police state under their belts to help. Be a father, and you are doomed; you are told about the *best interest of the children* and taken away from your children for mere false claims and allegations; and the perfect weapon? the *best interest of the children* and *domestic violence* for merely challenging the status quo; more bluntly: if you are a dad, then fuck off, and we'll even make you pay for it, literally, and bang you in the slammer to make sure you do; if you're a mum, then there's your carte blanche, and may the force of the *corrupt, oppressive UK state* be with you. I guess by now, you'd know I'm talking from bitter experience, with all the scars to show for it. And I SHALL NEVER GIVE UP.

Perhaps the daddy should have helped his wife to settle into the uk and not argue with her all the time. These problems are caused by two people, not just the mother

Idiot. This kind of mentality put us all at risk. Parental responsibility, you understand this?

What a stupid comment, this issue isn’t about who was to blame in the marriage breakdown, it’s about the rights of the child to have both parents in their life.
