Parenting Autism: Helping Bryce Work Through Balloon Anxiety with ABA

This video was taken two years ago when Bryce was six years old. He had developed a huge fear of balloons as well as anything else that he thought could make an unexpected loud noise. He still struggles with this anxiety issue but has certainly learned to cope much better. ☺ On this day, we had assistance from his RBT and one of his best friends, Cassidy. It was beautiful to watch him work through his emotions and learn to trust us all. We hope you enjoy this video, too. It demonstrates what small steps and lots of patience can do in the world of autism.

My nephew with Autism was obsessed with air filled balloons. He didn’t like popping them but he loved playing with balloons .

I hate balloons as well. I have a balloon of phobia and it's the worst because whenever balloons come out I like cannot be in the same room as them

@@ParentingAutismShow I notice they gave him distress even when they weren’t inflated, which is a bit different for me. When they are inflated that’s the only time they distress me, it has to do the unpredictable nature of them popping, balloons popping is an anxiety of mine.

@@PatriaPrimum yes, he is hypersensitive to even deflated balloons in fear that they will be filled and pop. Thanks for giving more details. It is a delicate subject for him.
