So refreshing to see an influencer that doesn’t pretend that everything is perfect. It makes me feel very inadequate to watch someone that claims to have a perfect life so thank you for sharing your life with us. It definitely makes me feel like I’m not alone.

You have no idea how refreshing and comforting it is to hear the good, bad, and ugly from an influencer. It can feel so disheartening when influencers only report on the amazing parts of their life because it makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong with my life. Your authenticity is so appreciated ❤

U’re not alone. Moms all over the world and thru the ages have felt the way u’re feeling. Take a breath. Is ur baby fed? Does he have a safe place to sleep at night? Do u try to teach him to be good to others and to himself? Do u talk and play with him? In my book, u’re doing great! Today is the first Thanksgiving without my mom so I understand how it seems like there’s always some hurdle to get over. But we all made it and we’re all thankful to have each other and to have had her so it’s a win. And u posted which just made everything better 😊❤

First, nobody is perfect and there is no such thing as a perfect parent. All you can do is try to be the best parent for the child or children you have. It is really great seeing you talk about this, because there are probably plenty of parents watching this who think that they are failing as a parent because they don't have everything figured out and that they are struggling. Nothing in this world that is worth anything is easy. Everything meaningful takes effort. Being a parent shouldn't be easy, it is and should be one of the hardest things you ever do. Loving them is easy, raising them isn't. You are doing a fantastic job.

Girl. Yes. You can be a happy, positive person and still struggle with anxiety. It is a real struggle and i appreciate you being so vulnerable with us! And when you’re in the moment, and you’re overwhelmed and stressed and worried and anxious, it IS SOO hard to keep that positive mindset. But that is 100% human. I went through several traumatic experiences one right after the other, right before, during, and after Covid hit and i developed SEVERE crippling anxiety, to the point that I couldn’t leave my house without having an anxiety attack. It affected every part of my life and I felt completely alone and crazy and it wasn’t until an old coworker of mine, who had suddenly left work for several months (this was well after everything opened back up after Covid) but he came back and I asked where he had been and he proceeded to tell me how he had developed severe anxiety and couldn’t function and for the first time in a long time; I finally felt understood and having someone to relate to was so healing in itself.

Parenting IS hard and that is exactly why I refuse to be a parent, I am too anxious and too worried to have a child, I do not think I could ever want to put that kind of stress on me, I do not feel capable enough to do so, but this is why I am choosing a childless life. I do really respect and admire the moms out there fighting every day and doing their best!

My youngest sibling chose the same and I respect that so much. I wasn't thinking big picture when I decided to start a family. If I had, I'd probably have chosen the same.

Shan you are not alone at all! I’m not a parent but I still have just as much anxiety about my family being safe and okay at all times and it’s exhausting and you loose sleep and it’s just a lot, and when you’re but sleeping things get so much worse just because you’re not at your full capacity so seriously give yourself so much grace around this time! You’re doing an amazing job ❤

You hit home on the self reflection part of parenting. I’ve been looking inward to ensure I pass along healthy habits and mindsets etc to my children and I can relate to how being a parent forces you to work on these things. Been watching since 5th grade (10years old) and i'm 22. My sister had a baby 3 days after you had porter and it's so interesting to see you go through the same parenting stages as my sister. Her two kids were so sick just 1 month ago, in the hospital for 3 days :( NOTHING is sunshine and rainbows but you keep going and trying your best! Your quote about "it takes the same energy to have a good day as it does to have a bad day" is something I live by because your have said it in a previous video and it's so true!! Thank you so much :)

It’s winter in my country and everything is freezing and everyone is sick. I started a new job at an airport (the 7th busiest one in my country) and I’m constantly surrounded by viruses and challenges. I’m currently trying to settle into my new job while navigating becoming a fully independent adult for the first time in my life and it’s so nerve wracking. I’m going through the application process of renting my first apartment while also deciding on important, life changing decisions like what kind of insurance plans to pick. People always appear to have their life together on the outside, but it’s just a mask. There is no guidebook to adulthood, and as stressful as that may be, it helps to remember that everyone is in the same boat. Your videos always remind me of that, and they offer me peace and comfort in a time where I feel like I have no answers. Thank you for sharing your experiences Shannon, remember you are not alone ❤

Hey Shan…idk if you’ll ever read this but from a single mom of a 12 year old with a deathly peanut allergy and asthma….you ARE NOT ALONE! No one is perfect and every child is different. You and your partner are different and have different parenting styles. It doesn’t mean that you or they are wrong. Porter is your first child, and trial and error is the name of the game. You do what you think is best, even if it’s not “correct”. Fuck everyone. Do you and don’t let anyone make you feel like what you’re doing is wrong!

Hey Shan - I'm a therapist and sometimes I feel focusing on the positives can have a backlash effect of self criticism, or a sense of being inadequate or just doesn't feel believable. Sometimes using statements that focus on the positive *and* acknowledge your feelings can be more balanced. Hope that helps, and feel free to ignore if it doesn't. :)

I’ve always been one who falls asleep to the TV. I would literally wake up and turn the TV back on when the episodes ended. Yet when I met my Boyfriend he did not have a TV in his room, he says the body needs to unplug and it can’t if the TV’s always on. After 7years of living like this I would agree with him because I sleep like a baby now. Try it if you can. It’s a big step but we’ll worth it. Truly.

So happy I clicked on this video. As a single, only parent mom I don’t have the time to watch KZbin like I used to. But this video definitely hits home. I’m over watching “perfect” influencers making me feel like my life sucks. I want the real! My daughter and I were sick at the same time. Luckily, hers was just a cold and over in a few days. But unfortunately mine has turned to something more severe. It’s been about a month and I’ve had to start rituxan treatments. Which is a type of cancer treatment but not as harsh as chemo. I’ve been diagnosed with autoimmune disorders and awaiting results to find out if I have cancer. I am very weak and sick but the worst part is worrying I won’t be here for my daughter. Worrying about your child trumps everything else. Ugh, life is hard. I’m trying to stay as positive as I can be and hoping the diagnosis stays at just what it is now and the treatments get my blood counts back to normal. My baby girl means everything to me and the thought of not being here with her terrifies me. Hugs for you Shan, Love, a long long long time subscriber ❤ you may have been the first KZbinr I started watching. So I love that we joined the mom life together 😂 (My daughter was born April 2022)

Well I never got to be a Mom although I would have loved to. I only had a chance to take care of my nephew when he was a toddler which I loved. So while I can't really say I know what you are going through I can say I have been the queen of insomnia for way too many years with literally dangerous levels of sleep but .. I am still standing but I credit the Lord for that. I think your little boy is sooo adorable and very cute. Also, Hammish seems like he is a rock which every woman needs a man like that. You are a sweetheart Shannon and I don't doubt but a very good Mom too. Hugs Diana Dubin

I'm the same with my worry. I found around the age of 28 it started to hit. The anxiety hits hard. 30 was like the age of anxiety attack. I swear 20's was the era of freedom, not a care in the world. 30's I'm overthinking everything and the slightest inconvenience is an anxiety attack waiting to happen. They slightest change in my body it's DR Google. It's a crazy time. Speaking of kids entertainment do we remember Suzy's world from back in the day? (NZ 90's babies should know). I grew up on Sailor Moon. What were the shows you grew up with? Necessity is the mother of invention, gurl. If there isn't a perfect peach palette, create one. With a range of pinky to orangey toned peach shades from light to dark shimmer, mattes and metallics. Come up with some cute palette names like perfect peach, peach perfection, peach smooth. Also miss your era looks. We never got 90's and 00's. Xx

Awe girl, I spend my whole life worrying about everything and everyone as well. And just wait until Porter is old enough to fake being sick and then you have to determine whether he’s actually sick or just trying to skip school 😂 my kids are terrible with that because they know I don’t want them to feel bad all day at school or get anyone else sick…but I swear they try to stay home “sick” every single day 😂

I would love there to be more z palette styles where you can buy little magnetic blush, bronzer, eyeshadows individually and then put the shades you’re currently using all in one place.
