I don't get why families have a golden child. Even in my own life, my mother had a golden child, which was my sister. How do you decide that one child, that you created, is better than the other child, which you created??? _Edit:_ My mother bought clothes for my sister every week while I only got clothes on holidays. She also stole about $10k from me and gave it to my sister.
@AlfredSauce-cr3ymАй бұрын
Likely who they relate/connect to more; Different children are more difficult to deal with. Not Justifying it, but someone falling into that mindset isn't necessarily unbelievable
@deancarruthers444Ай бұрын
In complete honesty it comes from evolution. Our brains are still wired to find specific traits more desirable over others, what the person looks for is different between each one because of their positions but yeah the reason why a parent will always have a favourite child if they have multiple comes from the primal instincts.
@thunderpants3500Ай бұрын
Some parents usually screw up in the first, or don't want another upon the second.
@rosebenton1126Ай бұрын
Not always a favorite but it could be how the older kids see things. My adult sons think their little sister is the favorite but it’s not true. It’s the fact that she is the only one that lives at home so it appears that way to them. She is in orchestra that takes 10 hours a week after school. They both did extra curricular’s also. But they say she does more and gets more. She also already has scholarships for college due to her orchestra.

@@deancarruthers444 sometimes my sisters tried to say i'm the golden child when i was a teenager (as i was facing significant trauma and was autistic, though undiagnosed at the time) but it's not true at all. Though my mom does give a bit more attention to me because of my disabilities and mental health struggles, my sisters are still just as loved by my mom; just older and more independent

"They admitted to using all that money on their own enjoyment and activities. Never once thinking on how that would affect us". Even if you don't necessarily think about it - spending money means YOU HAVE NO MORE MONEY! A fool and his money will soon part, indeed. At least OP has sensible grandparents and a good head on her shoulders. And it's nice that she wants to patch things up with Brad, but I'd still keep him at arms length.
@DarkEinherjarАй бұрын
The parents failed at paying their mortgage because they were counting on their daughter to continue to be a good doormat and give them money. They totally manipulated OP into getting a job ASAP with the intention of leeching money from her for the rest of her life. As usual, the golden child & scapegoat child dynamics fall apart when the scapegoat child is no longer there to be a doormat and take the blame and responsibility for everything.

Illegitimate child? So, the parents makes some post that saying their child is Illegitimate? Adopted? Or they both acknowledge the mum or dad having an affair? This story is so all over the place. Kinda stupid, yet amusing.

They were trying to put op down and create a story that makes op a villain of some sort
@memeking7273Ай бұрын
Yep. To them the only logic that makes sense is "OP abandoned us, everyone dogpile hate on her until she becomes a Giant Doormat and get the Grandparents to give us all of OP's money to us"
@WanderinpaladinАй бұрын
I'm happy this was the parents wanted the grandparents to change their will back and not because OP's grandparents had died.
@MCBRUCE76Ай бұрын
First thing what OP needs to do is, block them on all platforms of communication. Also, OP shouldn't expect sympathy or empathy from people, who don't know the truth, because parents have already presented their twisted tale to them. Now until and unless OP presents her side of the story, she should not expect people to side with her. She should make a post or compose an en email detailing everything that happened to her in her life, and send it to everybody. The more OP keeps quiet, the more they will believe in the twisted tale of the parents. Stand-up for yourself, speak for yourself, put your foot down for yourself, and fight for yourself, and see the difference.

Keep inheritance, screw the parents. They basically abandoned you and left you to basically to rot. Let them rot and acknowledge they messed up.

I like that they saved money for brad, he should know jow to act since he's an adult but if you were taught to be a terrible person by your parents it's probably hard to unlearn that lesson since it's been taught to you since birth. They have to make sure the parents get none of it though, they don't deserve any of it. Edit: Brad needs to gain some sence soon though, he's an adult. He should know that they treated him badly asking for money I can see if your desperate but pressuring anyone into doing it after treating them bad is terrible not only that but you should be realizing the mere mention of money will likely destroy your whole relationship. Edit2: It's a good thing he learned before it got too late. Good on him.

There should be a law that says that if a minor, regardless of age, is working to contribute to the household. Then the minor can make legally-binding demands on the household, if the parents refuse to abide by those demands they can stop taking money from the minor or face up to 50 years of jail with no bail or parole. Also are the grandparents or OP not going to sue the parents for the money they embezzle from the education fund?

1. What kind of professors can't afford to pay their mortgage on a 2-bedroom apartment? Or is this a house? Either way, it's pathetic. 2. Teaching her how the real world works? Yeah, as soon as you kick her out of her rented space, you'd be in court, and NO judge would take the landlord's side on this issue.
@RanchoSantaAnadelChinoАй бұрын
Yes. If you are the landlord, you are the landlord. Don't expect to also get the rights of parents. It is one or the other. The child can still like you if you happen to be friends. That is up to them.

It's not your fault it's your parents'fault because they favored their Golden child brother over their own daughter and they wanted her to pay rent and they kicked her out of the house and they only cared about their Golden child brother and they only cared about their inheritance and that's not right and they should pay for their actions and go to hell for what they have done to her and if you guys can't see that then you guys are delusional and they don't deserve anything for kicking her out of the house and making her pay rent and only cared about their Golden child brother over their own daughter and they only cared about their inheritance and you don't have to apologize for anything it's their fault not hers.
