Great points about singing & drumming. In some aspects it’s like any other combo except that the drumming has fills at certain points. For instance, I’ve heard this song now hundreds of times, but just noticed when Anderson is singin the lyric, ‘….jumpin its bubblin…’, the rhythm of the words is basic straight 8th notes, but the lick he plays on the drums is more syncopated right at that spot. Definitely another level of relaxed yet focused concentration. Being 63 myself, heard much of J-5 & Temps. I think the Temptations come to mind immediately for most people when they here a sound reminiscent of Motown, but I wouldn’t imagine them doin a song like this. Reminds me of some of the less universally famous groups, like Delphinics (La la la la Means I Love You, which J-5 did sloe cover), Chi-Lites & Stylistics. A huge difference though with Silk Sonic is the subject matter. Back then in ‘70’s, wasn’t no black folk singin about mansion doors & pools, flexin like they also do other songs on the album. The struggle economically was reality. Anyway, nice reaction.👍🏾

Actually the Jacksons could and did do music exactly like this. As soon as I heard this the first thing that popped into my head was this is some Jackson's late 70s ish. If you don't think the Jacksons could have pulled this off then I suggest you go back for a listen. And for the record, other than Jackie The Jackson 5 for teenagers when they started. You can't compare the Jackson 5 to the Jacksons which is what this music is emulating. The Jacksons didn't have to emulate the 70s they were the 70s and early 80s.
