Sadly, now that Catherine has a child and is reportedly pregnant, getting her out is much harder. Assuming the only way to whisk Catherine away is to get her alone, would you want your daughter to leave her child(ren)/your grandchild(ren) behind, to possibly never see them again, and to be raised in a cult? On the flip side, if she were able to escape with her child(ren), that's certainly not the last she'll see of the cult. They will come after her and them. As someone who was in a cult for 20 years, I have to respond to those who give answers quoting the scriptures about "loving father or mother, son or daughter is not worthy of me" In other words, your going to prove to Christ how much you love him by separating yourself from people, youre going to show him that your serious, and for real in his eyes. If you believe it is in your self effort, performance, and works by "doing" stuff like leaving your family, you are well on your way to becoming a Pharisee. You can now claim within yourself how righteous and real you are, you are really showing Christ how dedicated you are, at least that is the deception youre believing. Well, pay attention and you will start to see and feel your elitism growing inside of yourself. You will start to look down on others who 'are not as serious' as you. Do you see the Pharisee growing? You will start to have a lofty arrogance, and thoughts of how youre so glad that your not like all those other so called Christians out there, just like the Pharisee in Christs example of when two mean went up onto a mountain to pray. One a Pharisee the other a sinner. the Pharisee was praing how he was thankful that he wasn't like that sinner beside him. Its called Elitism, and it is an infection that starts with performance based works for salvation and trying to earn Christs love and acceptance thru self effort. I mean really, the only thing that changed is that the private group of 12 disciples following Jesus became a large following. The instructions and behavior are largely intact from this original group. So Christianity is a cult. Its not really an interesting observation. A cult can be small or large; size and length of existence has no bearing on the definition.

You sound like a perfect fool. I like how your second definition conveniently leaves out the word "exclusive." Most people would not call a couple billion people a very exclusive group. There is no second figure to take the place of the first as his power started to fade. Jesus was and remains the focal point of Cristianity. No one charismatic leader could control and exploit over 2 billion people. Cults just don't get that big. The leader has to be able to isolate the members from outside influence. That is possible to do with a few dozen or even a few thousand but not a few billion. Any Christian can look into other faiths, no one is going to lock them in a shed for 5 days and 5 nights of fire and brimstone preaching so they won't make that mistake again. But first of all Jesus does tell us that when we pursue to follow him we must be willing to turn our back on those in our life who are not willing to follow him. If Catherine truly feels as though she is following Christ and obeying him, she is doing the right thing.
