To me one of the worst parts is the fact that most of them aren't wearing masks. They pre planned doing this flash mob and chose not to cover their faces. That either means they really don't care about themselves and feel like they have nothing to lose or it means that they are extremely stupid or both. Either one of those reasons is bad for all of us. Thats why they are doing it. They get to say they were there and did it, they were apart of something illegal and wild that they can brag about, and they know that nowhere in the state of California enforces laws against stealing and looting. Employees that work at these retail stores get fired for trying to stop people from stealing during these organized stealing sprees. Then you get feel good news stories about the 3 shining examples of morality and honesty whose stance on right vs wrong is unwavering in any circumstance.

The age of social media and advanced technology have corrupted our kids minds. They follow what they see on social media.
@akirak1871Ай бұрын
Yep. Teenagers (on a subconscious level) start looking for role models at that age. They emulate what they see the adults doing. For most of human history, they would have started working as apprentices around age 13. They would have spent their time around other responsible adults, and that was how they learned what an adult is supposed to be. Nowadays, kids are raised by their cell phones. The adults they are looking at the majority of the time are the "influencers" on social media, e.g. vapid, self-absorbed, crude, violent. No surprise that that's what we're seeing.

Some parents really are trying, but some kids will still act out and do bad things. I had a student a few years age who would show up 45 minutes late every day smelling like smoke. @akirak1871Ай бұрын
It's a problem with many factors, but if I had to throw my suggestions out: - Get back to actual policing. Are the police guilty of excessive force and not punished sometimes? Of course they are, and that's an issue that should be dealt with as well. But one of the most basic tenets of civilization is private property. This kind of thing can't be allowed. - Attempt to reverse the increase of single parenthood. I'm not saying single parents are bad people or all kids raised by them are bound to be rotten. But the studies are pretty unanimous in that kids raised by single parents are far more likely to have disciplinary problems. In particular, single mothers raising boys cannot physically control them once they're past age 15 or so. Again, I know there are valid reasons that single parenthood might be the best option (e.g. abusive relationship) but it's really suboptimal, and crime-ridden inner city areas have huge rates of single-parent households. - Educate parents more on the effects of cell phones and social media. There's a very corrosive ghetto culture (and it's not race-specific) that dominates the teen culture on those platforms. Among other negative things, it glorifies wealth while denigrating work and obeying the law. Not good for kids to be growing up on.
