There was a blogger who has invested in Gabe tech like cellphones and watches which have gps tracking and phone call capability for her children. She did this after one of her kids was alone in a cancelled sport practice area until a passerby helped contact her. She loves these techs because she didn’t want smart products with internet and social media which Gabe doesn’t have.

I find Apple AirTags to be most useful if you are sending important packages to people. I put my AirTag in a small self addressed envelope and then, put that envelope in the package I am going to send. I can track the package in real time if the driver of the UPS vehicle has an iOS device and if they don't have an iOS device, I can still get pretty frequent updated location information. Once the recipient received the package, they open the box and put my self addressed envelope with my AirTag inside in a mail box. I not only can see exactly where the package is but, I have had 2 packages get lost and I was able to get them recovered because I was able to communicate the location of the packages. They are very useful if you know how to use them properly.

The drawback with Apple Tags is there need ms to be an Apple device nearby to communicate, it also alerts the other device that a tracker is nearby, kidnappers would remove the tracker and ditch it.

I used lanyards with basic info that my kids wore around their necks if we got separated in crowded places, but I guess this is better if you’re thinking about predators

When you toss the AirTag into the child's backpack, all you're ever going to know is where the backpack is. There's no reason you cannot pin or otherwise secure the tag inside the child's clothing. Of course the child may also be separated from their clothing, but it's better than putting the tag into something the child carries or wears (like a bracelet or watch) and may somehow lose. Of course no product ever devised or likely to be devised, will ever take the place of a parent keeping their eyes on their own child at all times.

Yeah..... I will stick with ole faithful, my eyes and my kid being next to me. Sure use it as a tool but WAY to many people use this as "oh, its says they are at Beckys house next door. They are fine." Its just taking more responsibility away from parents and relying on a tracking device to watch your kid. My generation wanted their kids to grow up with "independence" look where that got society. Just saying

Yeah but as long as they are within 50 feet of an iPhone you can track them from anyplace - the iPhone network forwards the location info on to the internet.
