Hell, the way the salamander talks is so far and beyond how every other SM chapter would talk to “lesser mortals”. Even with his stoicism and angel like status, he put the wellbeing of the marine beyond his own, knowing his own strength, which is the kinda characterisation of "nice" SM I like. Not one thats overtly too "knightly" and self righteous in being nice, but knowing that being gifted with this strength, that compassion can be put between mere mortals and the dangers of the galaxy, without comprimising that intimidating posture. Makes him so much more interesting rather than writing him like a generic paladin character, awesome stuff

I think you're seriously overrating how "human" the Sallies are. The memes really make the marines out to be complete asshats, when in reality, if someone just reads the books, they will find out that Space Marines aren't at all like that. Of course some are, but that's expected given the disconnect with humanity. Every chapter in general tries to live up to the "angels of the Emperor" standard, they won't go around talking shit. Hell, even some of the most notoriously "grimdark" legions like the Black Templars and Dark Angels and even some Iron Hands have characters who've shown actual decency.

Unironically, Sa'kan going from "I have to perform this vital, mournful and delicate rite" to snatching a leaping screaming man out of the air is a better-presented example of Astartes reflexes and speed than any other I've seen or even heard of. All the Salamander-accurate behavior - including trying to figure out what was going on instead of just killing the guy, being so distraught over the loss of the geneseed on top of his lost brothers that he condemned a begging man to suffer despite how clearly wrong the situation was...then thinking better of it at the last moment - is just more gold. Because people get he didn't burn him for being a 'traitor' right? Good sense won out over anger.

Funnily enough, the whole lifting someone by the neck thing isn't a strength problem but a weight of the lifter problem. Your foot acts as a fulcrum. Trying to lift something as heavy as a person at arms length causes the lifter to pitch in the direction they're holding the person, rotating from the foot. Only when there's a massive weight difference, or some other force keeping you in place can someone do this.

As they try to repeat it, he turns around and burns them. ED Nurse here, interesting details I liked about the medications his suit gave him: Adrenal fluid: probably a mixture of epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine to help give him energy and increase blood pressure, cortisol to help increase glucose levels and tissue repair, possibly also testosterone to get him fired up for battle and aldosterone to increase fluid retention from the kidneys as he’s suffered blood loss. Pain suppressor: self explaining, maybe some future opioids Bronchodilators: expand small airways of the lungs to improve gas exchange, probably due more to his 3rd lung collapsing as he mentioned later on and less the smoke as his power armour would filter out the smoke and his genetically enhanced body, already used to Nocturnes toxic atmosphere and the salamanders pyromania, would protect him from harm. (P.S. Please don’t inject a cocktail mixture of these things into yourself if you’re shot down in a war zone without medical clearance. You are, sadly, not a space marine.)

An Astartes chainsword shouldn’t have any trouble cutting through much of anything as lightweight as a regular human, armored or not. if it jams under circumstances like these the only sensible in universe explanation is that it was badly damaged internally, and couldn’t output enough power for the cycle rate to tear properly. even then, it should’ve been more than enough for him to wield it as a bladed cudgel. an Astartes chainsword is obscenely heavy and the teeth are typically diamond like material with a monomolecular edge.

The chainsword was already sparking before it was activated, so it was damaged. Chainswords especially the Astartes ones can chop through lightly armoured infantry like butter all day long but the teeth will start to break against heavier armor. This isn't too much of an issue because chainswords are very simple and most users carry extra saw teeth with them. There is a power field variant which is very rare, however that custom type will brutally cut through almost anything.

Several points on this clip: -Whatever is going on it's very powerful, even capable to turn the staunchest loyalists to the Emperor against him. Kriegsmen are "just" human, but they would suicide on command if they were aware of being mind controlled. -The humility of the Space Marine thanking the trooper for "rescuing him". Encouraging the soldier while he tries to extract the gene-seed of his brother, then hesitating to kill the guardsmen even after he tried to attack him. -The Space Marine has no trouble dealing with an entire squad of enemies. The simplest moves: thrust, push and slash, minces the troopers. Effortless, no fancy stuff. Murderous precision. -The pain of the last guardsman realizing what he's done must be beyond our comprehension. And to be called a traitor by a Son of the Emperor... no words. -Even after committing the greatest sin, treason. The Space Marine gives mercy by a quick death, maybe realizing something was wrong. Othe marines wouldn't have been so kind.

@@germany456 Bit of lore: To make a space marine you need gene-seed, an organ that makes sure all the augmentations of a marine work together seamlessly. If you just stuff all the upgrades of a marine in a body without it you don't quite the same super soldier. Gene seed grows inside a marine all his life. Normally the seed buds are removed with a routine surgery for implantation in aspirants. Upon death, the seed is also harvested, and is considered a sacred final gift from the dead brother to the chapter.

I absolutely love the sound of his power armor. Its a very minor detail, but hearing the whirl and mechanical sounds is a good reminder that while to him, it feels like a second skin, it still is a machine that he wears. Its a machine that allows a super-human soldier to effectively fight the aliens and demonic terrors of this universe! Something so small could easily be forgetten, but it wasn't.

Seeing these kriegsmen forced to betray the emperor was the first thing I actually got sad over in wh40k universe. Just knowing how much they care about dying in serving the emperor and seeing these warriors in state like this is more heart breaking than all yours daemoncunyulabalas or Angron origin. This is the first time I feel bad from the story in warhammer 40k universe. It was always grimdark but you always could laugh about it. Here I can’t imagine a single funny thing about it

Considering they would do anything for the god-emperor’s grace and forgiveness like blowing themselves up at his command without a second thought or going on a one way mission which would have them lining up to go battalions at a time shows their unflinching loyalty to the emperor of mankind and the lengths they go for his forgiveness. At least in this video they where given a chance at death vs the fate worse then the death all Krueger guardsmen wish to have to be seen as worth to their god-emperor. If they ever made Krigermen Space marines then it would be a blood bath for the emperor’s enemies.

Space marines have two progenoid glands (geneseed) one in the neck and one in the chest which is the most important organ to extract from a fallen battlebrother. It is "better" to retreive more organs but if you're in a hurry it's fine to just take the gland. The reason they're mostly taken from the neck is because one of the organ implants a space marine gets fuses their ribcage togheter making it essentially bulletproof which is why the salamander tried to get in over the collarbone (the dead salamander is strapped to the ship so retrieving geneseed from the neck would be impossible)

They prioritize the one in the neck during battle since extracting the other one requires cutting through layers of armor and reinforced bone. That's the main reason why apothaceries have a drill or saw on their arms

I love how the Salamander didn't just kill the attacking trooper outright. I feel as if many others wouldn't have hesitated in snapping that guardsman's neck the moment he showed any sign of aggression. It was clear in the upcoming "battle" that they were no real threat to him, so it seemed as if he wanted answers first. But when he didn't get them...he did what his training told him to do. And at least he gave them all a rather quick death. Salamanders are still Space Marines and are trained killers...and likely have killed humans in the past, but that doesn't mean they enjoy it or relish it. And even that interaction at the end, where he said "You earned this pain, traitor," didn't feel out of place. He's seemingly along with no backup, his battle brothers dead all around him...and he was interrupted in performing a sacred duty to them because of the interference of these soldiers. Said interference also prevented him from completing the right. Ironically, it is his humanity that drives him to this course of action, leaving the poor soul to die at first. He's angry and probably not thinking rationally. He's also unaware of what exactly is going on. To him, these soldiers are traitors and thus are the worst kind of scum. The only "mercy" he could offer was burning that soldier. The bolter would have been cleaner, but I think this Salamander was taking out a little bit of rage on this soldier that he indeed saw as a traitor.

They're just mostly depicted as male because they use templates from specific Krieg people with desirable traits for soldiers so better physical strength and endurance from male templates. Although I'm pretty sure I've read they use both male and female templates that they refresh regularly because old templates can dereriorate over time so they still need a replenishing population even if they use a clone army.

Because kreig is a irradiated hellhole that needed people to fight over it, tell me would you ever pick a woman to sit in a trench then charge the enemy for 500 years, no, women would be your most valuable asset to keep the kreig gene pool as clean as possible, because you live in bunkers. And again women can make children, losing one is losing more than one. This would stick and will still be in practice because that is just a fact that men are stronger.

Extracting his Fallen brother's Geneseed to ensure the future of the Chapter Astartes are incapable of reproduction and the process of converting a human into one requires the implantation of multiple organs. Said organ can only be cultivated properly thru the usage of the Chapter's geneseed(that represetns the controbution of the Emperor's and the legion's primarch to their genetic makeup). One such organ is the progenoids which all astartes are implanted with: they have 2 of them by the time they become an astartes, one of whihc matures and can be removed around 10 or so years later while the other sits in a vital position(just under where the thyroid normally is) and cna only be removed if the Marine falls. Securing at least one of these glands will ensure a 1:1 ratio of replacement for the future of the Chapter.

The only thing I don t like is this stereoptypical " crash with only 1 survivor who is somehow unharmed". It would have been cooler if there were like 3-4 survivors, within different states of wellbeing. Cool detail i liked is the Salamanders Heads-Up-Display. Shows the status of his squad (three red, one white, hes the only survivor), life signs of his battle brothers (flatlined), his own health status (critically injured). Then to add to this cool detail, the suit responding to voice commands, with each emergency stim administered his health meter raising to optimal levels. And of course, the respect towards the fact this Angel of Death is wearing a suit of POWERED armor: the weighty steps, the whirr of motors when maneuvering limbs, the ambient whine of the power supply. Just like they describe it in the books :)
