This week on 'Has it Aged Well?' Abbas and Urjita dial it back to the 80's as by discussing Vidhu Vnod Copra's iconic gangster film 'Parinda'. Joining them for the episode is writer, content creator and the man behind the instagram handle @notwhyral: Sudarshan. They talk about Nana Patekar's break out performance, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff's chemistry, the unhinged portrayal of Bombay, how Parinda was a precursor to Satya, and ponder over the metaphorical meaning of 'Parinda'.

Correction: Vidhu Vinod Chopra's debut film as a director was Sazaa-e-Maut(1981) based on his own student film Murder at Monkey Hill. Khamosh came in 1985.

I have loved all the previous episodes from you guys but this one was kind of disappointing. Also because Parinda is one of my most fav film of all time! You did not even discuss it properly .. throwing incomplete random facts just for the sake of stating them! Also really surprised to see you guys giving this 6/10! This film literally is the OG Indian gangster film!

Hey Yash, thanks for your feedback. We'll try and do better next time. As far as the ratings go like I mentioned on the episode maybe for me the film didn't leave as great an impact because I grew up with gangster films that took the best aspects from Parinda and built upon them. Every film is subjective, so 6 was just my personal rating. It by no means implies the film is bad. Sudarshan gave it a solid 9/10 coz that's his perspective. I appreciate your passion and love for the movie and thanks for sharing it.

@@abbasmomin What was more surprising that you guys didn’t know simple things about the film, especially Urjita. Of course Anna is scared of fire because his wife died by suicide with fire and now he suffers from PTSD. The climax of Parinda is probably the greatest in Bollywood history , considering Nana Patekar almost died while filming it. It was an actual fire which got out of control and can been seen in one of the shots. You can’t talk about Parinda missing this. I have lived through the hype of Parinda when it came out and believe me it was bigger than Satya. Everyone talked about it and children had Nana dialogues by heart. Hai kuch dialogue is legendary where he clearly talks about suicide. How can you guys miss that lol. Naive discussion. Parinda deserves better film viewers and analysts.

Bhai this show needs serious second thoughts. Anchors need to be changed. I can simply ignore the show and channel but then that will be injustice to our next generation who are watching this hence commenting.

As i had mentioned earlier, the concept of the show is interesting, but they need anchors who are genuine cinephiles... not cracking inane jokes & giggling all the way... get serious guys... Parinda is the GOAT gangster movies ever made in Bollywood that too on a shoestring budget..

Abbas Instead of bringing these young illiterate people who have only half a clue ( your frigging so called expert says 1989 was a time of angry young man - bullshit - it was the time for love stories QSQT notwithstanding)of the times and circumstances I strongly recommend bring in 2 guests - one older one who has experienced the times and one younger one to get the right perspective.
