ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Vivienne, one of my current favorite coffee table books is a signed copy of Liberace's autobiography. No other book I've owned has spawned more conversations. Honey, he was a big ol' mess. The chapter dealing with 'losing his innocence' has certainly been a popular starting point, but they're all golden. Timothy Corrigan’s apartment, in particular the beautiful silk drapes or curtains, were sumptuous in a quiet way that I found was what I love. In the past decade or so in America there has existed a trend of removing all curtains to allow the design of windows and the light from outside to shine. For personal reasons I have embraced that trend. Those particular curtains could convince me otherwise.

If this is Heaven, forget it, I am staying here! The most recent Château Timothy purchased was on Quintessence a few years ago, I almost had a nervous breakdown. Before the Chateau was even furnished, Suzanna Salk videotaped the tour on her channel “Quintessence”. I played that video over & over ❤️🇫🇷❤️. I am so proud to admit every door handle in my home has a French silk tassel hanging from it. Off to the kitchen to grab a bottle of Champagne, I am sure it is cocktail hour sone where in our World right now🤩. That was stupendous. Thanks for all the insights. The patterns on the outside of your chateau facade could, I'm sure be recreated into trims for serviettes / bedding etc. In all sorts of different colour schemes.

On the rue de Seine there is a huge 'Hotel Paticulier' in a courtyard that was shut up for many years and the windows were covered in vignes and ivy. I got talking with a gallery owner who had the keys and he showed me around, it was incredible, totally furnished like something out of a Zeffirelli movie with huge chinese vases and plush velvet sofas and walls covered in mirrors and art. The light filtered in through the ivy and cobwebs, an incredible moment. I am sure that the same Hotel has been thoroughly 'boutique hoteled' into oblivion, much a pity.

As a designer, U know our job is to bring out the clients personality in the space in which they live. My personal design preference is total transformation to the point of THE WOW FACTOR. One of those discrepancy was in Frisco, NC on the outer banks but it burned down 2 years ago. 😢 there were only like 200 of those made and they had three entire interior designed. They were by an architect our of Sweden I think? in the 60s. I'm horrible with remembering names and dates. They were sold all over the world but there are only a few left. it's fabulous they have one there for you to look at!
