My dad worked in a copper mine for 41 years . My mom loved and collected copper everything for years.. before it was such a idk trend? Once a year the mine would have a copper sale.. I don't recall the details.. I was a kid but my mom would buy everything and anything.. molds, pans, mugs, pots, serving platters.. our kitchen was lined w copper molds, she had a pot rack full of pots.. I wish I had her pieces.. I'm not sure what happened to them through the years, I only have a few of her collection. Tea pots, mugs, but , my mom couldn't be bothered w keeping them clean.. six kids .. they were always tarnished... Anyway, I lost my mom in December and I'm really wishing I had all her copper.. I guess I'll have to start my own collection in her memory. ❤️

When I listen to your videos my birds hear your birds...and I get birds chirping in stereo. 😂 I have the same 3 birds but my birdies...fly around the house. Birds everywhere. 🐦 ❤

I loved how your copper just popped on last Friday's video after the reveal! What was crazy to me is you had most of that copper displayed similarly before- but it almost got lost due to the background. Now with the blue and white- it really allows the beautiful copper to stand out. Amazing! Gives me so many ideas and inspiration for my own kitchen. Kudos to you on these last several videos- they have been so fun, informative, and real- I can't get enough. Please keep being you! And never apologize for bird noises, etc- I am digging the real life look into your world. Thanks, Angela!

Great information! I have always used a half a lemon dipped in fine salt, but I'd never heard about tomato products! I loved hearing your budgies chattering away in the background! I grew up with parakeets (my twin sister had blue ones, and mine were green. They shared the same large cage). I love Barkeepers Friend, and I filed away the sourdough cleaner for future. Clever!! Big hugs!!

I've had copper in my kitchen for decades. Long ago I lost patience with the natural cleaners because of the time component. I go straight for BK's Friend with zero guilt. 😉 The sourdough starter as cleaner is a new one. 👍

I absolutely can not use BKF! It sets my hands on fire! I've used Bon Ami as a scrubbing cleanser for about 50 years. Much less harsh on hands & much cheaper than soft scrub. For my limited copper, I use ketchup or any tomato based thing I have. If you end up with a truckload of ketchup packets from fast food meals, open the multitude of packets to use for the cleaning process. Thanks, Angela, for sharing the multitude of things that can be used to clean copper. Can't wait to see your completed kitchen h mudroom! ❤😊👏

Great informative video. I saw your kitchen reveal and your copper looked beautiful, I wondered if you actually used it. Mine looks like it went through the war even though I had it retinned last year. Interesting to see all the possibilities especially the sour dough starter. I would think that would be one that they may have originally used. I was hoping to see how to clean the tin, but I guess it is hopeless! I do have BF but thought it would be too strong...so maybe not. I wouldn't mind having the copper polished every once in a while. Will also check out Mauviel cleaner ...theirs must be fantastic. Tiles look awesome and wonderful idea to DYI!

That was really interesting and you got a lot accomplished. Have you ever asked the people at Monet's house how they clean theirs? The tiles look so pretty on the wall and that wonderful stove.😀

I still have my grandma's Dutch oven, a small sauce pan and an old scale. I need to polish them. I only keep them for decor only. My grandma use to make a paste out of wood ashes to polish her copper. My mom used the lemon method. I love copper but I don't like the maintenance that goes with it. At our restaurant we had a lot of copper cookware that needed attention. I only use stainless now and cast iron. I love my Bar keepers products too

How do you go about having copper re-tinned?

I remember mom always saving the spoiled tomato products for that kind of thing. It looks beautiful in your kitchen and style but think I’ll stick to my lifetime cookware. Ha

I've tried so many copper polishes, but none work as well as the bar keepers' friend scour powder.
