I run my giga with a fast coil shock. I'm as happy racing enduro as I am DH on it. Amazing in the steep chunky stuff but probably not the best at carrying speed across long flat trail but hey I have a short travel trail bike for that. I love the way I can pull for any trail gap with the confidence that if my skill or agility is not on point it's not gonna try kill me

Same, running the XL frame with the mullet link for a 5mm longer chainstay. Balances out the bike nicely. The Fast shock is insane, by far the best shock I’ve ridden (also tried the EXT and new SDU Coil in the Giga). Overall by far the best pedable park bike I’ve ridden. Definitely leaves behind bikes like the slash in almost all aspects…

I just bought a giga 290 as a park/road climb bike, and I have to say, I love it. I’m a pretty light dude so the suspension feels plenty supportive to me while still smoothing over breaking bumps. I have a trail bike that I love, so I got the nukeproof to handle downhill terrain my trail bike can’t, and it’s perfect for that

I came off my 2018 Mega 290 to a 2023 290 Giga - Absolutely great park bike. Had it set up by Sprung Suspension and is stupidly playful. I bought it to have fun with and runs spectacularly at Bike Park Wales as well as the steeps in the Forest of Dean. Allows me to ride loose!

My 2010 scott voltage still rips and holds its own everywhere and sits at 33 pounds. 180/170mm. Really shows the industry is just going in circles and is at a point of diminishing returns.

I have the same x2 on the mega. The lockout is not that great, more like a propedal, after all it's a dh air shock. It took me a while to set it up but it's stunning. It feels like it can adapt at any trail

Im looking for a bike to use in bike parks mostly as want a lighter bike then my turbo levo. Been looking for a bike with abit more travel aswell. Will 180mm travel be beneficial or more punishing for a heavier rider? Im about 105kg.. Or does the weight not matter? Miss the riding on cloud feeling which i get on DH bikes.

This is basically a freeride bike. I'd choose the Mega 297 as it's seems to be a more balanced enduro bike with 160/170mm travel.

Freeride bikes have pretty always had single crown forks and the era where they were running dual crowns - they were not pushing a lot of mm of suspension unless you were doing bender style flat drops off cliffs.

Trying to get a bike that does it all just makes everything mediocre. Get a bike that climbs well that you can thrash. You will love it and have tons of fun since it will be light and pedals well. When you can afford it, get another bike for park/freeride and dh and it will be great at that and you will love it. Speaking from 30+years of riding experience and having ridden it all.

It is literally all the can comment on these days. Bikes - no matter what one you get - are all capable of great things. There really ins't a lot to critique considering there is only a handful of componants out there that every bike gets. Only a handful of suspension design that are all licensed out to these manufacturers so they have all been talked about to death.

Its not replacing anything. If you downhill, you're at 200mm. If you park its 180 170 if enduro 160 170. Trail 150 160. Downcountry and xc are the rest. Most enduro is just a way for xc ppl to win something else without having to master rock gardens. Downhill is the only way to eliminate spandex influx. Unless the enduro tracks just do 6 downhill tracks in a day rather than long xc cources with a rock garden or slab section. Anyone can learn a garden but becoming an xc guy in july is impossible. An xc guy can do an enduro easily but not a downhill.
