Mr Geo my name is Laurence and I’m 17 years old. I have been a fan for a while, this is my new account. I used to shave with cartridge razors and I recently have switched to a Merkur 34C and I have been getting really good shaves with no irritation at all. I have sensitive skin so I can only go with the grain. I use a brush to lather and things are really working. My state of Florida in the United States, especially in my area, we were hit bad by Hurricane Ian. We recently just got the drywall removed in some of the rooms. Sir I just wanna thank you for showing us viewers on how to handle a safety razor. The crazy thing is, the first time I used my Merkur, not once did I cut myself or experience razor burn or irritation. My face is very clear now with no acne. I have a good diet and I am a senior at my high school and I have all A’s and B’s. Thinking about getting proraso soon and today is a good day for me. Thanks once again, Mr Geo.

Chad, if you ever find an old English made Gillette Rocket for a good price, grab it. The 1940s-50s Gillettes that were made in England are some of the best shaving razors ever made. Don't let the age deter you. They were built to last 2-3 lifetimes.

I have that razor and I can say it is the most difficult to insert the blade and to keep it in its place while you slide it. It is almost impossible to do, because the blade moves. And to make an adjustable shavette, is ridiculous. The blade is the blade, it gives no difference if it is more or less exposed.
@geofatboy
@geofatboy Жыл бұрын
I agree that it should have a magnetic blade holder. That would definitely simplify the process.

Hey Geo, I am fascinated by this razor. I have never used a straight razor or shavette before, but now I want to try this one to channel my inner cowboy. Please do a video of the Parker in action soon, and give us your opinion on whether it is worth getting, or if there are better options out there. Thanks!

I love shavettes..have you used the tomb 45 3 way razor that's the most comparable to this one? This obviously has to has less blade exposure than the tomb45 3 way from what I saw.

Great review Geo, Parker should’ve added a magnet to hold the blade in place, less fidgeting with it, but still a great idea having three shaves in one.

Are shavettes a way to bridge the gap from safeties to straight razors, or do people also use them exclusively?
@jasonvoorhees895
@jasonvoorhees895 Жыл бұрын
I can tell you that's the reason I bought a shavette. While I like the way it gives me sharp, perfect beard lines, I have NO desire to use it all over my whole face. While there's something that makes me think that a real, stroppable straight razor might be better than a shavette, my experience with the shavette has convinced me that a good DE is fine, and I don't need to plunk down the money for a good quality razor and strop.
@ashwinoashwin
@ashwinoashwin Жыл бұрын
Having used both, I don’t think it’s a bridge. A safety de is very much like a catridge razor imho. At least most of the mild razors out there are very much like cartridge razor is how they need to be operated. But a shavette is a skill that you will need to learn ( and can do so easily) . To put it in a different way - i can right away go from a mach 3 cartridge to a de razor with very little skill addition. That’s not the case with the jump to a shavette and that jump is even more pronounced when you go to an actual straight razor !
@JeroenvanKleef
@JeroenvanKleef Жыл бұрын
Straight razors are much more forgiving and smooth than a shavette. So it won’t give a very good comparison I think and can even give you the wrong impression about straights.
@4stringz.

@jasonvoorhees895
@jasonvoorhees895 Жыл бұрын
@@JeroenvanKleef That's what I imagine a real straight razor to be like, but, if it's smoother, is it also duller?...and is that possibly better? Because I usually use Feather or Wilkinson in my shavette, and they're freakin SCARY sharp. I've seen the damage I can do with a shavette vs an awesome shave with a DE. Do you think I would do less damage with an actual straight?

Hey Geo, my one question is do the inserts lock into place? My concern would be if the insert could possibly slide out during a shave if it doesn't lock into place. I've been using a parker shavette for over a year now and love it. Either way man I enjoy your channel and your videos. Keep up the good work pal, looking forward to seeing your next videos 👍👍
