I read about James Dean in various books in the mid 1990s when I was a teenage college student ,he had an incredible connection with young people throughout generations, I always though it odd how some people thought he was a strange, sensitive young man when in reality when growing up in a farm in Fairmount Indiana he joined every sports team was involved in drama, social clubs and was a good student popular with his peers who got alot done in his 24 years.

It's harder for the guy playing Dean as Dean was a very well-known figure in both looks and personality, so his performance will be scrutinized more, but I thought he handled the voice and general attitude quite well. And the actor playing Donald really got to me when he started to get emotional. There are nitpicks I have but when Hollywood doesn't give a shit why should I bother you guys about it. This was so well done and put together. Although some might disagree, but I find the man that played Jimmy very similar in appearance to him as well. Although I didn’t grow up in the 50s and yes Jimmy only made 3 big films, I am still a big fan of his and hope his memory will live on for ever, may he Rest In Peace. ❤️

So much hate for Donald Turnupspeed, due to people blinded by fanboy-ism/obsession. No one can really "Blame" anyone, it's not like it was done intentially, Donald was very lucky not to loose his own life. "I'd rather it have been him than dean" I'm sure his family and friends thanked the lord every day he was ok. How dare anyone try and trade a life for a life, it's a tragedy what ever way we look at it. No doubt Donald lived with alot of hate, abuse and self blame through out his life. James Dean is the reason I got into acting, yet people that claim to be fams of him taint his memory but saying disgusting things about Donald. Donald is dead and had to live wither someone elses death on his concionce for years.

At least no one is blaming the officer who pulled him over two hours before his death. If James Dean didn't get pulled over, the wreck wouldn't have happened. No one shouldn't have to bear the blame since it's an accident. One could say James Dean wouldn't have gotten pulled over if he wasn't speeding and that would be true. No one was the bad guy, it was just an unfortunate circumstance that ended one life and ruined another.

What a wonderful film. I know that Mr. Turnipseed never spoke publicly about the accident after September 30, 1955. He reported to the officer on the scene that he didn’t see the Porsche until it was too late. The man he hitched a ride with that night said that Donald kept saying, “I hope he’s (Dean) going to be alright.” At the time of the crash, James Dean was not as famous as he was to become. Only one of his movies, “East Of Eden,” had been released. I don’t think Donald Turnipseed knew at the time that he had just accidentally caused the death of a movie star. I can’t help but wonder if he ever wished he could talk to Jimmy and apologize. Perhaps this film will bring comfort to those directly and indirectly effected by the tragic circumstances of these two, young men.

Don't believe its a Baracuta. That is unless a lot of customization was done to it. The G9 has the elastic waist and the G4 does not. I have seen very few G4's with the elastic. As you said it may have been custom work. If so then they must have also removed the pocket covers with button which clearly isn't visible, but is on both the G9 and G4 . Also the cuff in the video doesn't look like the G9 or G4. Anyway nice jacket.

I just watched this short film, and I'm a JD fan also. I caught your comment about Jimmy's father abandened him.. There is video where Marcus Jimmy°s cousin was interviews. This was a couple of years ago. He said that he could not look after him because of all the time he took from his job to take care of Jimmy's mother. He almost lost his job. That is how Jimmy came to live with his aunt and uncle. His father was drafted in WWII. Marcus said that they had reconciled two months before he died. Marcus said it was an unfortunate accident. There was not any malice. His family loved him. Just sad. Take care.

Maybe Mr. Turnuspeed never talked about this. I can't imagine what he did go through after the accident. You people who are fans of James Dean say you hate Turnuspeed. Do you think James would feel that way. It was an accident. The car was hard to see. The sun was in Turnuspeed's eyes.How many of us has almost hit someone or have hit another car because the sun blinded us. it's happened to me. That's why they are called accidents. None of us know what Turnuspeed has thought about all this. Would you really want to explain yourself for forty years? And know that no matter how many times you say you're sorry, someone is still going to blast you for the accident. I've seen comments to that effect. Terrible accident. Life was lost. Tragic no doubt.
@jamest6816 жыл бұрын
I don't disagree, but Turnupseed was travelling east and James Dean was travelling west. It was Dean who had the sun in his eyes, not Turnupseed. There was no obstruction to Turnsupseeds view of oncoming traffic. Even though the Dean car was low to the ground, would you have seen a corvette travelling in your direction if you were making a left turn in front of it.

I was 13 years old and remember my mom talking about seeing an article in the newspaper about this actor being killed in a car accident. We had never heard of James Dean as he only had one movie in the theaters with Rebel Without a Cause rushed out after his death and Giant was still being filmed with Dennis Hopper doing some of the dinner scenes at the end of the film. I became a big James Dean fan. I lived in the St Louis area and made a trip to Fairmont, Indiana to see his grave and to see his uncle and aunt’s farm house. This was in the 1970s and his grave marker was pretty beaten up by people chipping off small pieces as souvenirs. I lived in the Monterey area for 11 years and would travel from Salinas to Paso Robles and take the highway over to I-5 to go to LA. Dean was killed on the old highway that can still be seen when you cross from I-5 to Paso Robles. There’s a monument to him in the small town (Cholame) that was close to the intersection of highways 41 and 46 where Dean was killed.

An interesting concept, although they'll have to fix some oversights. Dean's mechanic, Rolf Wutherich was with him and survived the crash. Gasoline was not 67 cents a gallon in 1955 and unleaded wasn't available until 1974. Perhaps there is more, but I picked up on these.
@jasonhilton597 жыл бұрын
Elvis21254 I think this is meant to be their spirits today, not back then. Seeing Donald is old and dead,dean alone without his passenger rolf,it's meant to show maybe how they would be today if their spirits met up.If it was set back then,Donald would be young.
@Musicianchip6 жыл бұрын
Charlie Prescott: Rolf Wutherich ironically died in a car crash in 1981. Since he would be a "ghost" now as well, I think he should have been in the car as well for historical continuity. I study acting, which means I have to watch a lot of films and short films,but this one was really special for me I guess.From the camera,acting,storyline and technical point of view it was a great done job. I would like to thank to whoever done this short movie.The cuts were correctly timed and considering the fact that it was a short movie ,the work with camera and the tension this movie has is perfect.I think that the director,cameraman and the actors did a great job.It's emotionally filled and strong enought to make person drawn into the storyline of the film even though he does not know the original background.I'd like to thank whoever made this movie.It's a piece of good work, and I think filmmakers can learn from this movie and take an example of what it should look like.Thank you.

To tears. I received my degree in Theatre Production. I had to take a few acting classes, and those classes were a good experience. I went to Illinois State where John Malcovich, Laurie Metcalf, and Terry Kinney attended. They and some others started Steppenwolf Theatre which is in Chicago. Check them out. I wish all the best in your craft. Take care.

Well done 10/10 no doubt mistakes were made on both sides. Jimmy was speeding and Donald turned without due caution. Lives were wrecked that day and just because one was a movie star doesn't make it any less than the other. I love the way you had the two coming to peace with it....beautifully shot by the way.
