YES! This is awesome. The 80's rocked. Theres more style in this video than in everything on MTV right now put together.

what a magic song! (When I bought the recording of it back in the 80ies I was extremely positively surprised that there was that harpsichord theme of Miss Marpe on the record!) Real neat band style.

Love that cello, so deep and soulful. The male & female duo near the end, this version always takes me to another place. Love the hushed base, in an era that had more than its share of high-pitched shillin. (I love the GosGos version of this too; I'm talking about a lot of mainstream pop of that era - Journey and Whitney Houston for example.)

You are spot on. I saw them live at the Hammersmith Palais, London in 1982. The Go Go's were the support band. A most perfect night out. It's lived long in my memory. I was a huge Specials fan, saw them live too and in Brixton. Something about FB3 though. Whereas The Specials touched my soul, FB3 touched both my heart and soul. R.I.P Terry Hall x

Apparently Jane Wiedlin and Terry Hall wrote this song together. BTW: The Specials (Hall's first successful band) was "two tone"... English bands which had both white and Black members and mixed up styles. With how prominent female musicians are in this track (including the writing), seems like a continuation on of a theme of "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations" (to quote Star Trek) ;)

June Miles Kingston, thats her name - thanks carrollkrc for reminding me. I wonder what became of Terry Hall. The last I saw of him he was wandering round a lake muttering to some bloke about moving away from Coventry to the countryside. I think it was some Open University programme I stumbled upon in the dead of night.

Yes, I recall it, too. It was a better version, imo.. Terry looked more "lonely" on the stage, even though it was cramped as this one is. I love this one but the other one was even better. There was even some foreign-language overdub one.. do you know this one? It was not really Terry singing it.. it was overdubbed and was really cool.
