Thank your nephew for his service. I completely understand the sadness and pride the family feels when they have a member who serves. My husband did 16 years in the Air Force before he was medically discharged. My grandpa and 2 uncles we fighter pilots that served for 20 years in the Navy and my niece is currently flying Helicopters for the Coast Guard. I am so proud of them but they are deeply missed when gone.

You are justly proud of your nephew. I’m an Australian Defence Force(Army) mumma. My youngest lad has been serving for the last 7 1/2 yrs almost and unfortunately the division he his in doesn’t have deployments/postings to his home state so we have to fly interstate or drive at least 3 days in order to see them and our granddaughter but that’s life it makes those visits so much more important. He and his little family get to see so much of our beautiful country and also the world. When he was based in Darwin, he worked alongside the US Marines based there.

It's been pretty crazy down here in South Florida. Ian sure made a mess of everything! A lot of us haven't had power in 6 days. Plenty of businesses have power but nothing is open. McDonalds is the only fast food open and the line is always 10+ cars long. Any gas stations that are open haven't had food to sell for days. It's a mess!

disappointing. yes I know what u mean. a while back I had a military guy at my work DEMANDING that I let him use our fax machine to fax out VERY important papers. We don't offer that service to the public. but since he was military he expected it. He said u mean that I'm ready to lay my life on the line for u but u won't do this for me. I told him that the national guard was 3 buildings away and a grocery store that faxes was on the next block. but he said he didn't want to pay. seriously? 10 minutws of this. I thanked him for his service but demanding special treatment hurt the image i had of military. sad.
